For the second year in a row, Surly Brewing Co. will be releasing a series of barrel-aged variants of their popular Russian Imperial Stout, Darkness. The different barrel and adjunct beers were released at Darkness Day last year and will follow suit this year.
Surly Brewing Darkness has always been a highly coveted stout come the fall. The Russian imperial stout typically is available in a non barrel-aged version and a barrel-aged version. To change things up, Surly announced three variants, each in a different type of barrel and available only at Darkness Day.

Today, I shall provide you with another more recent addition to the beer scene in this fair city: Portside Distillery and Brewery. Their main beer is aptly labeled 216, after the area code familiar to those living in Cleveland.
November is the perfect time to start thinking about fun and festive holiday cocktails. Today I am sharing a seasonal inspired recipe that uses fresh pears and a pear beer. This beer cocktail represents fall and winter flavors including pears, cloves and vanilla. I used spiced rum to spice it up a little more but it does not overpower the delicate pear flavor.
