The Black Pumas were nominated for “Best New Artist” at the 2020 Grammys, and they wanted to try something different in 2020. The Austin, TX-based group decided to collaborate with 4th Tap Brewing Cooperative, with the goal of brewing a beer for shows that would benefit their community.
According to John Stecker, President and Co-Founder of 4th Tap, the goal was to create something “accessible and drinkable for summer shows.” That said, they didn’t want to simply put the Black Pumas name on a random beer. Rather, both entities wanted the group to be a part of the brewing process.
St. Elmo Brewing Company teamed up with Zilker Brewing Company to create a new hard seltzer for Labor Day weekend. Slush Buddies is a seltzer collaboration that neither brewery really saw coming, but both breweries loved the lighthearted approach to making something delicious.
Pinthouse Pizza’s award-winning Electric Jellyfish has had quite the journey. In 2015, the hazy IPA was designed to be a beer only available at the Lamar, TX location. In the five years since, it has become the brewery’s most popular beer. Soon, it will be the first Pinthouse Pizza beer available off-site.
Not every beer from Bay Cannon Beer Company has a name. In fact, most brews available in the West Tampa, FL taproom are simply listed with their ingredients. “It’s about the beer,” said Matthew Juaire, co-founder and COO. He, along with fellow co-founder and head brewer Joe Simmons, believe that beer names are trivial and the focus should be what’s in the beer and how the beer tastes.
