Awesomesauce | Winter Edition
February 5, 2015 | Laura Mego
So, I know I’m down quite a bit on winter in the Midwest, but there are SOME upsides to the cold weather and short days. While I mentioned my all-time favorite around this time last year, there are still a few reasons why this season isn’t as bad as some (ahem, I) make it appear: Read More
Venue Preview | Avanti Food & Beverage
February 5, 2015 | Chris DayAs the spectacular growth of breweries in the area suggests, the average Coloradoan has an insatiable thirst for craft beer. However, it should also be known that we love to eat, as evidenced by a booming restaurant industry that employs more than 250,000 statewide. I suppose the two go hand-in-hand. What’s better than sharing a beer and meal with good friends? Well, what happens when one friend wants pizza, a second wants tacos, and the third is “only eating things with roots” this week? Avanti Food & Beverage, a collective eatery opening early 2015 in Denver’s LoHi neighborhood should make these situations less frustrating and far more delicious.

If Craft Beer Settled Super Bowl XLIX
January 29, 2015 | Tristan ChanAs you’ve likely discovered by now, we’re not your average craft beer blog. And as such, we thought we’d take a bit of a different approach to this weekend’s Super Bowl by asking what Sunday’s outcome would be if craft beer settled Super Bowl XLIX. Read More

“Gotham” Gets It Right
January 26, 2015 | Christian Bolen Walker
Five of the top ten highest grossing films of 2014 starred superheroes. Release dates for more crime fighting epics continue to come out of the woodwork, effectively rendering any comic book nerd senseless with anticipation. With so much superhero noise, it can be easy to tune it out altogether. But then you might miss out on Fox’s new series, Gotham, which would be a mistake.
Pop Culture Week in Review: January 17-23
January 23, 2015 | Drew Troller
My fellow PorchDrinkers, I am here today to tell you that the state of pop culture is strong. (Hold for applause, standing ovation)
Yes, it’s the week of the State of the Union. Not really a pop culture event in the traditional sense, but try telling that to Twitter. It wasn’t just the President’s address to Congress that made people take notice this week. Plenty of news (well, “news” is a strong word so let’s just call it “stuff”) to cover in this week’s Pop Culture Week in Review. Let’s go.

Pop Culture Week in Review: 1/10 – 1/16
January 16, 2015 | Christian Bolen Walker
While summing up a week in pop culture, it can be difficult to sift through the abundance of gossip and trumped up fanfare that litters the entertainment news landscape. This week, let us ignore the tales of misbehavior and drama, such as Miley Cyrus posing nude for V Magazine, and Chris Brown getting his probation revoked, and instead let’s focus on the actual medium of TV and Film. There are so many trailers to debut, not to mention the announcement of Oscar nominees, that we may as well take one week to enjoy the final products that get us so hungry for news about the players.
Awesomesauce | Foot Cardigan
January 15, 2015 | Laura Mego
Ugh. It’s getting to be that time of year when I get depressed by the weather. For those of you who live in LA, or Florida, or somewhere else annoyingly sunny and perfect all the time, I know you have no idea what I mean. But, for those of us living in the Heart of it All in the midwest, January is “God, is winter EVER going to be over?” season. Read More
Roundtable Discussion | Best Place You’ve Enjoyed a Beer
January 14, 2015 | Amber Dunlap 1
This week the PorchDrinking team took a walk down memory lane to reminisce on some of the best places they’ve enjoyed a beer. From family beach vacations to hole-in-the-wall bars in foreign lands, what seemed to make the moment in almost all cases wasn’t the quality of the beer in hand but the people they were drinking with and the new experiences they were sharing with them. We’ll cheers to that! Share your best beer moment in the comments below.
