Station 26’s Black Friday Invitational Revealed 13 Alternatives to BCBS
November 28, 2017 | Scott DavidsonBlack Friday is the yearly celebration of corporate greed and gluttony, known for stampeding families sharing in the time honored tradition of punching their way out of a Walmart with the last Tickle-Me-Elmo, or whatever kids scream about these days. In the beer world, it’s a day dedicated to bottle chasing AB-InBEV Imperial Stouts, or as anyone that has ever worked at a liquor store calls it: “No, we don’t have any!” This year, Station 26 Brewing Company set out to change that in a very big way with their Inaugural Black Friday Invitational. (All photos captured by Dustin Hall, the incredibly talented, and brilliant, man behind the Brewtography Project.)

Odd13 Brewing | n00b
November 22, 2017 | Jared HardyI’m that guy. I’ve been him for a long time now. I’ve known it for a long time, but didn’t care. I went with it. I’m the guy who no matter what always just wants to try the NEW beer. It’ll be sitting right next to a beer that I know I love and have even ranted and raved about to my friends. And yet, I can’t help myself; I grab the shiny new beer next to it on the shelf. I’ve never really had a go-to beer.
That has finally changed.
Epic Brewing Company | Triple Barrel Big Bad Baptist
November 20, 2017 | Chris & Sylvia HollandsFew words excite beer lovers as much as the word “rare”. The thought electrifies basic hunting instincts into a frenzied FoMO path to liquid bliss. Last year, when Epic Brewing Company announced its plans to release two very special versions of their barrel-aged stout Big Bad Baptist, we stood up and took notice. Released alongside the already well-established original Big Bad Baptist, was the Mexican coffee-inspired Big Bad Baptista and the sensory enticing Double Barrel Big Bad Baptist. Needless to say, many of our old trading friends dropped us a quick “ISO” once they caught wind of it. Read More
Wynkoop Brewing’s Day of Darks Festival Pour List
November 17, 2017 | Tristan ChanAs much as we may try to deny it, and as much as recent Colorado weather may contradict, cooler days are creeping on the horizon. One sure sign of this changing of the guard can be seen through the corresponding shift from fresh hop and pumpkin beers to the dark and roasty stouts and porters that’ll inevitably be dominating liquor store shelves for the next three to four months.

Brewery Showcase | Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub
November 15, 2017 | Sue BjorkmanWhich came first, the pizza or the beer? Okay, this isn’t as philosophical as the classic chicken and the egg question; I’ll go ahead and tell you. It was the pizza. Moonlight Pizza & Brewpub opened in Salida, Colorado in 1994 and began creating handmade thick crust pizzas with a decidedly Colorado-hippy vibe. And it was good. So very cravably good.

Event Recap | Left Hand’s Nitro Fest Brings Beer to the Big Tent
November 15, 2017 | Kara RowlandChances are most readers of PorchDrinking.com have been to scores of beer festivals, with many—while still awesome—fairly indistinguishable from the other. Left Hand’s Nitro Fest, now in its fourth year, is not one of those.

Crow Hop Brewing | Knee Knocker Porter
November 14, 2017 | Bryan OldhamWhen you think of a porter, the first thing to come to mind is often the dark color and rich texture it has while sitting in its glass. You may wonder what exactly the difference is between a porter and a stout and why the heck they have to look so similar. Maybe the sheer excitement of a beer in front of you means you don’t think about any of these things, and that is probably the most reasonable reaction. If you’re looking for a traditional porter, turn back now. If you’re looking for one that will surprise your taste buds, Crow Hop Brewing‘s Knee Knocker is where you should turn. Read More
Left Hand’s Nitro Fest Brings Elevated Beer Festival Experience (Pour List)
November 8, 2017 | Tristan ChanIn 2017, beer festivals have become a dime a dozen, but the ability to create a standout, memorable event, either through the curation of an impressive pour list, creating an immersive attendee experience, or bringing on vendors and acts that add some extra star-power, can take the mundane, run-of-the-mill festival to legendary status. Left Hand Brewing is no stranger to pulling out all of the stops when it comes to throwing a beer festival. Whether it involves constructing a three story snowboard ramp in the middle of Longmont, CO, signing national bands such as Reel Big Fish, and Jeff Austin band to perform live, throwing a massive 8-act tribute band showcase, or throwing one of the state’s largest craft beer Oktoberfest celebration, these festivals generally revolve around a uniquely curated beer lineup, big name artists, and creating an experience that attendees won’t soon forget.
