Beer Cocktail | Baby Stout Jello Shots with Yard’s Love Stout
March 21, 2017 | Samantha StoryJust because St. Patrick’s Day is over that doesn’t mean the Irish festivities need to stop! We certainly won’t and neither should you. For many, Guinness comes to mind as the beer of choice for St. Paddy’s Day, but with so many options at our fingertips, it’s hard not to branch out. In accordance with tradition, however, it seemed only logical to attempt to take an already alcoholic beverage and make it even boozier. Read More
Beerstagram | March 9 – 16
March 17, 2017 | Holly GerardHappy Friday, it’s time for Beerstagram! How’s everyone doing this week? Some of us still seem to be basking in that sunshine I mentioned last week and many others are still digging out from snow, welcome to it being (almost) spring. With St. Patrick’s Day upon us, how will you be celebrating? Dry Irish Stout, perhaps? Hopefully only your dessert will be green and not your beer. Either way I guess we will see what photos you snap. Sláinte!

And while many Minnesotans are used to seeing Surly’s distinctive branding and hop-heavy beers on shelves, they now should get used to seeing the Surly logo on one more thing: sports teams.

Multi-use recreational trails are being created and communities are investing in the areas through the spawning of local businesses. With the beloved Schuylkill River Trail at their back door (literally, the trail is right through the backdoor), Conshohocken Brewing Company‘s slogan “Go where the path takes you” has been taken quite literally. Cooking With Beer | Beer Glaze for Beignets
March 9, 2017 | Samantha StoryFor those who have been lucky enough to go, New Orleans is a food mecca. Iconic creations such as jambalaya, fried catfish and po’ boys are abundant amongst the multitude of restaurants, bars and corner cafes. There is one item that is synonymous to this region, that embodies both the French influence of the New Orleans culture and sheer indulgence: the beignet. Sweet, crunchy, yet fluffy, the beignet in some regards is one of the simpler varieties of fried pastries. Usually caked with enough powdered sugar to create a white dust cloud with every bite, they are messy yet simply delightful.

Event Recap | Northalsted Frost Fest 2017
March 3, 2017 | Taylor LaabsLast Saturday, on a seasonably chilly Chicago night, I experienced all that the Northalsted Frost Fest craft beer festival had to offer. There were bright lights, loud music and a good amount of quality craft beer on-hand, which made it one of the more interesting beer events I’ve attended. Frost Fest was as much a tented night club as it was a beer tasting, which made for some entertaining highlights. Here are my top five moments from Frost Fest 2017.

Ultimate 6er | Fat Tuesday VooDoo Edition
February 27, 2017 | Mathew PowersFeature Image: From Sheffield’s Beer and Wine Garden, Chicago
For Roman Catholics, Ash Wednesday and Lent are right around the corner, which means Tuesday is the last day to indulge. For everyone else, Fat Tuesday is an excuse to experience new heights of debauchery, notably if you find yourself in New Orleans with all sorts of beads and cash. Indeed, the carefree nature found in New Orleans is the result of centuries of cultural homogenization. Yes, like a societal jambalaya, there’s a true mixing of cultures from almost every continent. It gave birth to modern hot jazz, and it found a way to mix all sorts of spirituality, including a wide acceptance of Voodoo. So, on this Fat Tuesday, let us celebrate the beer that celebrates the spirits that guide people through one last day of no-rules-fun — welcome to the Voodoo beer sixer!
