The PorchDrinking team was out in force supporting craft breweries the past several days; look at all this fantastic beer. I think I got a second-hand buzz just compiling the list this week. Indulgent Beer Series | Hill Farmstead Samuel

November 25, 2020 |

Everyone has their own definition of indulgent. It could be a decadent chocolate cake that pushes the boundaries of your sweet tooth and your waistband. It might be a 5-star spa day or a vending machine that distributes gold bars. There may be no clearer measure of an indulgent purchase, however, than seeing the facial expression of a beer non-connoisseur when you tell them you have spent $50+ on a single bottle of beer. Hill Farmstead Samuel becomes the latest release to stress-test the wallet, especially in the midst of a pandemic that is making us reevaluate our financial priorities. Read More

The Weekly Buzz | May 18 – 24

May 25, 2018 |

I’m totally stoked for Memorial Day weekend. I don’t have to work, which in itself is a rarity, and I also used two vacation days to finagle an entire week off. But let’s not forget the reason that we don’t have to work on Monday. Use every sip of beer as an opportunity to toast those who have fallen in service to our country. They paid the ultimate price so that I could post some nonsense I found on Twitter. This is The Weekly Buzz.

The Weekly Buzz | May 11 – 17

May 18, 2018 |

I’m far too tired to give you a witty introduction. My body is aching. Migraine symptoms are setting in. I know that these are probably related to the amount of time I spend on Twitter, but I’m just too darn committed to compiling this dumb list of tweets for your enjoyment. My own well-being comes second to you. Submitted for your approval, this is The Weekly Buzz.

The Weekly Buzz | December 15 – 21

December 22, 2017 |

This edition of The Weekly Buzz is physically difficult to write, After my workout today, I can barely lift my fingers to type. With my muscles chack-a-block with lactic acid, it’s going to take every ounce of my remaining strength to crack open a few beers tonight, but I will persevere because I am a champion. When the going gets tough, I dig deep and say, “Nothing will stop me from drinking this beer or writing The Weekly Buzz.”

Anyway… Here’s some stuff I found on Instagram and Twitter.

The Weekly Buzz | October 13 – 19

October 20, 2017 |

Another week has gone by, and I’ve spent too many hours on Twitter. I think it’s affecting my personality. I engaged a troll the other day, and I don’t even know why! There were breweries checking in from beer festivals, new beers, distribution announcements, job listings, and more. Don’t worry. We caught all the shenanigans and distilled it down for easy consumption. This is The Weekly Buzz.

Vinyl and Beers | Beatles or Elvis?

October 13, 2016 |

Once a month, the Vinyl and Beers crew will pose a musical question and, with all the inspiration a couple of good beers can provide, share our thoughts via pairings of records and brews. This month’s question comes from esteemed music-lover and director Quentin Tarantino: In a scene deleted from Pulp Fiction, Uma Thurman’s Mia posits that everyone can be classified as a Beatles person or an Elvis person, and all other musicians can be divided into one of those two categories. In theory, Beatles folks tend to appreciate the integrity of the musical creation process, while Elvis admirers are wooed by showmanship and the characters that create the music.
