Beers of the Month | July 2022

August 8, 2022 |

Surprised the Summer is coming to a close? Shit, us too. 2022 seems to be on a direct flight to next year. The MLB Season is more than halfway over. Football happens this month. School, both public and colleges, are back in session. Summer is hightailing it and so it’s basically the holiday season now? That’s how it feels, anyway. However, we’ve been doing our best to pump the brakes and appreciate the little moments. Especially the beer ones. We’ve rounded up some of the best and our favorite beers over the last month-ish. Read More

Cactus Land Brewing Co. | Lucas Salted Pilsner

July 28, 2021 |

Go to any backyard BBQ in south Texas and you’ll likely see beers dressed in some form of chili-lime salt. Usually used on mass-produced lagers (especially those in a green bottle marked with two red X’s), dressing a beer has typically been a way to add flavor to mediocre beer, and the trend seems to be spreading. But what if a beer was intentionally brewed to compliment the addition while also tasty enough to stand on its own? That’s exactly what Cactus Land Brewing Co. set out to do with their Lucas Salted Pilsner, and based on the reaction from the locals, they’ve created the perfect beer to enjoy in the South Texas heat.

What We’re Drinking | July 23, 2021

July 23, 2021 |

Holy hell. It’s really about to be August. We have one week of “summer” left, even though I personally feel like that shortens every year. We’re over halfway through the calendar and baseball season, too. School is upon us and fall sports are about to be king. It won’t take long, but the holidays are not too far off, and this year, we should be able to celebrate even more compared to last. I hope you’ve got a little time to slow down and take it easy, but if you’re still busy looking for a new beer to try, here is What We’re Drinking.  Read More

What We’re Drinking | April 30, 2021

April 30, 2021 |

There’s been no shortage of activity happening recently and it’s a welcomed sight. Sports are back, industries like music and film are starting to expand again. Vaccinations are becoming available and there’s a positivity that we’re almost to the other side of the pandemic. We’re not there yet, though, so in the meantime, stay resilient, grab a beer, and check out what we’re drinking.

Brewery Showcase | Elsewhere Brewing

January 29, 2021 |

From the street, the draw of Elsewhere Brewing is evident and hard to ignore. The vibrant colors bounce off the white brick and the allure of the painted greenery pulls you to a table. Place is a powerful tool and weighs down heavily on experiences and memories. This sentiment is present in the look and feel throughout the brewery. Read More

What We’re Drinking | January 8, 2021

January 8, 2021 |

We’re back and well-rested, yet somehow exhausted, from all of the holiday hustle and bustle and time commitments. While 2020 is officially behind us — good riddance — 2021 isn’t exactly off to the best start it could be. In spite of weather and events on the national stage, the beer industry is still staying afloat despite pandemic shutdowns. That does not mean everyone, and that does not mean thriving. Dry January is popular for many “influencers” and eager resolution starters, but do what you can to continue supporting local. Buy shirts, hats and other merch or gift cards to use at a later date. Grab a beer or browse some online shops while checking out What We’re Drinking.

What We’re Drinking | December 4, 2020

December 4, 2020 |

December is here, so let’s light the trees and count down the days until 2020 are over. This week started with a wintry mix, which is rare in Georgia, but brought a week’s worth of surprises. An elf seemingly wandered from the North Pole to my house as decoration. From the string lights on most surfaces, to the garland-wrapped bar car, I think I’m only missing the sleigh and reindeer. Maybe those are coming in the next few weeks? Until we get there, here is What We’re Drinking.

What We’re Drinking | November 20, 2020

November 20, 2020 |

You probably don’t need and don’t want a reminder, but Thanksgiving is next week. Which means that it is basically 2021, because we all know how fast this time of year goes by. While I’m a firm believer that it’s “always Stout season,” breweries are starting to release all the Stouts that we can handle over the next few weeks! That might be one of the only silver linings to end 2020. Travel plans and family/friend hangouts have likely been postponed, for the better. Be mindful about supporting local as the weather continues to challenge outdoor options for your favorite breweries and restaurants. Some of our local favorites are present this week, so here is What We’re Drinking.

What We’re Drinking | November 6, 2020

November 6, 2020 |

Wow. Just wow. What a week it has been. I probably don’t need to tell you about the elections that are going on across the country. As of the moment of this writing, we’re all still waiting for the votes to be counted in Nevada and Arizona, as well as in Pennsylvania and Georgia. Needless to say, it’s been a long week and I think it’s probably best to keep this one short and sweet. Here’s to one of the most participated in elections in our history, and here is What We’re Drinking. Cheers.

What We’re Drinking | October 23, 2020

October 23, 2020 |

Just when I thought fall weather and championships were coming to Georgia, I was let down. Again. It’s been 80 degrees on average and the Atlanta Braves are back home from the playoffs. Alas, that’s how it goes sometimes. This week seemed to be a little more relaxing for my counterparts as you’ll see from the nature views to the cozy autumn vibes. Everyone is busy now more than ever, and with the holidays approaching fast, let’s do our best to slow it down. In the meantime, here is What We’re Drinking.

What We’re Drinking | September 11, 2020

September 11, 2020 |

In a year that seems to have very few bright points, I’m finding positives in the smallest inconsequential things. Today, though, that is a shadowed piece of life as the country will stop intermittently to remember September 11, 2001 in different ways. Memories of that day are a variety of things for many people. If nothing else, we’re getting closer to wrapping up 2020 and putting it behind us. While we do that, here is What We’re Drinking.

New Realm Brewing Company | Hazy Like a Fox IPA

August 12, 2020 | 2

Hazy IPAs need little introduction in today’s craft beer scene. Many of them have a juicy body, with a golden foggy color and a citrus-forward aroma and flavor. New Realm Brewing Company’s Hazy Like a Fox IPA has these traits, but it also has some uniqueness that creates a journey of flavors all its own.

Dogfish Head | 120 Minute IPA

January 20, 2020 | 1

120 Minute IPA has been on my white whale beer list for a while, up there with Utopias and Pliny the Younger. So when I happened to find a bottle at random in a liquor store near my house, I was extremely surprised and needless to say I bought it immediately. Being I’m on the opposite side of the country from where its made, it’s a rare find for me at least.
