Untappd Reveals Top Beers of Summer 2017
September 29, 2017 | Josh RitenourWhether or not you use Untappd as a personal journal or to brag to your friends that you’ve just tried Duck Duck Gooze, there’s really no argument that it remains one of the best beer apps out there. The ability to browse tap lists or track down the latest juice bomb that just dropped in your city, the app has come a long way. After a merger with Next Glass, a wine and beer identification and recommendation app, Untappd co-founders Tim Mather and Greg Avola were then able to “transition into full time roles within Untappd as well as hire on more staff to speed up our feature development and make the platform even better for the community.”

Avery & Odell Effin’ Teamwork Stout Takes GABF Collaboration to the Next Level
September 26, 2017 | Tristan Chan 1To commemorate this year’s Great American Beer Festival, several breweries have already announced collaborative projects, however few tally as storied histories as Avery and Odell Brewing. Odell founded in 1989 and Avery, which launched in 1993, constitute two of the country’s earliest pioneers in the recent craft beer resurgence. Next week during craft beer’s largest stage, their mutual appreciation toward each other’s craft will manifest in the release of a collaboration beer unlike any other.

Mikerphone Brewing, Toppling Goliath Talk Beer Releases
September 19, 2017 | Mike Zoller 1Beer releases are a tricky thing. As more and more people take an interest in craft beer, the next release of a hazy NE-IPA, mix culture barrel-aged wild/sour, or big barrel-aged stout are getting more hyped, more complex and trickier for the brewery to manage. There is no such thing as a perfect release, however, breweries today are doing their best to figure out how to get their beer out to their customers.
Whether it’s a smaller/newer brewery like Mikerphone Brewing, or a more established one like Toppling Goliath, the logistics behind releasing highly sought-after beer are nothing simple.

Beerstagram | September 7 – September 14
September 15, 2017 | Holly GerardHello Beerstagram fans! How has your week been? Somehow it is already the weekend again. It’s pretty crazy that we are already talking plans for Great American Beer Festival over here at PorchDrinking.com’s Denver headquarters and that this will be the last weekend of summer. Fall is coming and so are those malty beers. But while it is still summer officially, at least for one more week, let’s keep on soaking in those lighter styles and outdoor beer shots, OK? Also, enjoy those Oktoberfest activities many of you have plans for this weekend, too. Cheers! See you back here again next week.
Cellar West Artisan Ales | Sapience
September 15, 2017 | Kelsey Verdier 2I know, I know. We’re post-Labor Day, school has started and the pumpkin ales and warm toasty porters are hitting the shelves. But as I sit here in my kitchen with the windows thrown wide, trying to tempt the air to somehow drop below 80, I just can’t bring myself to go there yet.
Funky Buddha Brewery | Fire in the Hole
September 13, 2017 | Anna DacostaWhile preparing for Hurricane Irma, I opened the fridge to find this interesting treat by Funky Buddha Brewery and realized it was the perfect beer for a time like this. An explosive beer, this rotates yearly in the Little Buddha Small Batch series. Fire in the Hole takes on a whole new level of spice. This red ale brewed with raspberries and habanero is too intriguing of a combination to pass up. Fire in the Hole was a drinkable distraction from all of the hurricane preparation. It is available throughout Florida in bottles and on tap for a limited time.
Ask the Breweries: What to Expect This Fall
September 12, 2017 | Taylor LaabsAs the leaves change from light and crisp to dark and brown, so does the beer. Fall is my favorite time of year for many reasons, but it’s the amazing variety of lagers, Oktoberfests and stouts that really makes this season shine. As the temps change, so do the opinions of craft beer nation, which means that craft breweries around the U.S. have to be cognizant of these changes and flexible enough to adapt to the every-fragmenting taste preferences of their patrons. What’s new and hot for 2017? Is this finally the swan song of the oft-maligned pumpkin beer? To get answers to these questions – plus many more – we asked the breweries. Here is what they said:
