Michigan is one of those places that never stops. Despite jokes about two seasons (winter and road construction) the truth is, every season begins and ends and brings with it the sort of activities that seem as if they only happen in movies. There is skiing and snowmobiling in the winter, gardens of wildflowers and baby animals in spring, and hills and landscapes full of red, yellow and orange in the fall. It’s summer, however, when Michigan truly comes alive, mostly because the state is littered with natural and human-made beauties that couldn’t possibly be in one area of the world. It’s with this in mind that for this week’s Ultimate 6er, we have six Michigan summer adventures and the beers that will make them even better.
Just in time for the holidays, New Holland Brewing has given us another in their Dragon’s Milk Reserve line, Dragon’s Milk Reserve Mocha Mint. This bourbon barrel-aged Stout sits at 11% ABV and is just as delicious as it sounds.
It’s been a fun week in craft beer, so I have cobbled together a piece that mostly shenanigans. After all, beer doesn’t always have to be serious! Be sure to crack open a fresh brew before you scroll through this nonsense. All styles pair well with The Weekly Buzz!
It’s the week after GABF. We’re all worn out from all the crazy social media chatter. That’s why I kept this edition of The Weekly Buzz short, sweet and light. There are a few event postings, a job announcement and some good old fashioned shenanigans. So, grab a beer. It’s time to zone out and stare at The Weekly Buzz.
I know I said that I wasn’t going to write about the Great American Beer Festival, but I am setting my grudge aside for the good of my dear readers! GABF 2017 wrapped up on Saturday night, and even though I was on the outside looking in, it seemed like a blast. We’ve collected tons of fun posts from this year’s festival, so prepare to live vicariously through your fellow beer nerds! This is The Weekly Buzz: GABF 2017 Edition!

Am I the only one who hasn’t started Christmas shopping yet? Usually, I’m done by now. I have a feeling that my Amazon Prime subscription is going to get a serious workout this year. If you’re in the same boat as me, you’ll need a break from the rigors of online shopping. Grab a fine craft beer, open a new tab in your web browser and dive into this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz.
As I write this, I am faced with the impending doom of a meal with my in-laws. I have been drinking since 7:30AM, and I hope that my intoxication doesn’t bleed through and ruin the high level of quality that you’ve all come to expect from my writing. You’ll be reading this on Black Friday, so go hide in a closet and wait for the mini-apocalypse to reach its natural conclusion. Submitted for your approval, this is The Weekly Buzz. Good night, and good luck.
Beer announcements blowing up like A-bombs this week. Some are returning seasonals, others are new twists on old friends, and some are all-new creations. Put those in the boil with event announcements and ferment over ample shenanigans. This is The Weekly Buzz, brewed just for you!
September brings us another week in transition. Some Porchdrinkers are grasping on to the last days of summer and others are diving head-first into autumn. We even had one intrepid soul who not-so-successfully tried to emulate the Queen of Beer Selfies by replicating the #Bovapose (Trademark pending… probably). No matter what is in our glass, you can be certain that our writers are having a ton of malty, hoppy fun. Here’s What We’re Drinking.
Guess who’s back, back again? The PorchDrinking team has rejoined forces to bring back our weekly What We’re Drinking series. As the evenings grow shorter, the temperature begins to drop and we all know that summer is quickly coming to an end. Because of this, we are drinking whatever the hell we want. We love our seasonal brews but let’s be completely honest here. We love #allthebeers. So cheers to another awesome week and hoping we can stretch a little more out of this summer.
Many events occurred over the last week and exciting things are about to happen. This week’s Growler Fill celebrates the end of a bill, the beginning of a microbrewery, and much more. Also – prepare your livers because its about to be American Craft Beer Week. As if we needed an excuse to drink more craft beer…
As much as I love awesomely bad horror movies, this Ultimate 6er is dedicated to those of us who feel suffocated by heat pumping furnaces and closed windows. Those of us who crave vitamin D, fresh air and warmth to keep us going. Those of us who don’t have the option to hit the slopes on the weekends when the temps drop and the snow piles up. Winter compounds the seemingly easiest of activities—driving, exercising and getting out of bed. Pounds and layers pack on as we wait for the sun god to warm the earth again, so we can arise from the recesses of seasonal depression and couch-dwelling sloth. These beers will save your sanity when the claustrophobic threat of permanent enclosure begets conversation with yourself, and they will cheer you up when the funk of winter harshes your Qi.
