Welcome to this week’s Denver Beer Beat. What a week huh?! Hopefully all of you cerevisaphiles out there got your fix with Pliny the Younger popping up all over town. How lucky are we to have so many chances to try that coveted brew?! How about Avery Strong Ale Fest? So much good came out of that event that I must digress on to March. March is a month of transition. Lots of breweries are rolling out all of the big stuff from winter so they can to keep us toasty and warm while also trying to provide ample amounts of spring-esque suds for those gorgeous patio days. So whether you are trying to hit those last days of stout or gearing up for an afternoon porch session, please follow along as we showcase the not-to-miss events in this week’s Weekly Denver Beer Beat.

New Kids on the Block 80’s Party

We are extremely excited to announce a pair of radical parties coming up celebrating Colorado Craft Beer Week! The week of festivities put on by the Colorado Brewers Guild aims to celebrate Colorado breweries, their beer and the people who brew them. CCBW will also feature special tappings, food and beer pairings, educational events and more including the Legends and Rarities event and the New Kids on the Block 80’s Party.

Those of us who live in Colorado are lucky that we have such an amazing craft beer scene available to us. Most can find a local brewery within a few miles of them at any given time. At this particular moment, I am appreciating this fact as I’m in my company’s plane somewhere above Kansas on my way home to Denver, and craving an amazing craft beer. Copper Kettle Brewery, located at 1338 S. Valencia Street, in Denver near Parker and Mississippi, will be my first stop after I land. They opened with the intent to be the local “Cheers” brewery for those who live near them. Don’t let this fool you though, as they make some amazing beers and have won a few medals at GABF since their inception in 2011. Their most well-known beer is their Mexican Chocolate Stout, a spicy brew you will not forget. A gold medal winner at GABF in 2011 in the Herb and Spice Beer category, you will want to try this one when you visit.

I recently discovered that I’m kinda a weird dude. My friend Paula recently called me out for being an “Asian, hipster, frat boy from Kentucky who also listens to bluegrass/country music.” I guess she has a point. Perhaps that’s why I find Strange Brewery in Denver, CO so endearing.
