Modern Times Beer | Hyper Halo Berliner Weisse
February 7, 2019 | Michelle ThomasNo matter where you live in the nation, you’re always itching to get your hands on the exclusive beers you can’t get through your local distribution. We’ve all seen the “ISO,” “Looking Out For” or “Will Trade For” posts on craft beer Facebook groups, but some choose to use some other less conventional ways to get their hands on new beers. Personally, I use Tavour when I want some really amazing beers from “sea to shining sea,” and even beyond.

What I do care about is some of the tasty brews that are starting to peek out before spring weather greets us all – Saisons, IPA, and fruited beers! Ultimate 6er | Beers for Super Bowl LII
February 2, 2018 | Eric GriffinIt has been decided. The two top football teams in the country will face off in Super Bowl LII in less than two weeks. I for one am ecstatic. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Boston sports were etched into my being, and part of that grouping is the most hated team in the nation, the New England Patriots. They will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of Super Bowl XXXIX 13 years ago.
But we’re not here to discuss odds; we’re here to discuss beer. Leave those domestic macro beers on the shelf this year and use this guide to point you in the direction of some beers that are perfectly suited for an evening of championship football.
The Weekly Buzz | January 5 – 11
January 12, 2018 | Dan BortzThis week was rough. The frigid weather broke in Pennsylvania and brought 40-degree weather to Pennsylvania. The reprieve, however, revealed a frozen, burst hot water pipe, which became a massive leak as it thawed. I mostly tell you this because I want your pity. feed on it. Also, I don’t want you to notice that The Weekly Buzz is embarrassingly light this week. Shit happens. We’ll all move past it and do better next week.

The Weekly Buzz | July 21 – 27
July 28, 2017 | Dan BortzIf you’ve ever spent 12 hours in an amusement park with three young children, then you have a rough idea how my week has been. Although our family trip to Kennywood was ultimately a lot of fun, it did leave me in need of a beer or five. I’d like to toast all the parents out there for surviving these kinds of endeavors. As it’s the weekend once again, I invite you to raise a glass and enjoy The Weekly Buzz.

Modern Times Founder Jacob McKean Talks ESOP, Big Beer & Growth
July 24, 2017 | Tristan ChanModern Times Beer, one of the country’s top five fastest growing breweries made a splash two weeks ago, when it announced that it would begin reacquiring shares from investors to gift back to their employees. We caught up with Modern Times founder Jacob McKean to discuss his decision to implement an employee ownership program, the growing threat of Big Beer, as well as what’s next on the horizon for the San Diego-based brewery.
Modern Times Beer Further Cements Independence with Employee Ownership Program
July 7, 2017 | Tristan ChanOver the past four years, Modern Times Beer has exploded on to the craft beer scene in a major way, growing from a production of 2000 barrels in their first year of existence, to over 40,000 barrels this past year. While many breweries who exhibit such a drastic growth pattern have eventually turned to outside funding to help further their endeavors, the San Diego-based brewery has chosen to go the route of employee ownership. Earlier today, Modern Times Beer announced that it has repurchased shares held by its initial investors and that 30% of shares will now be held in an employee stock ownership program (ESOP).
