Start spreading the news. I’m leaving today. I want to be a part of it, a New York beer line! Yes, that’s right. On my most recent trip to New York City, I woke up ridiculously early to make the drive for a the release of All Infinity Everything at Other Half Brewing Company in Brooklyn. Trust me, when you see this brewery is doing a can release while you are planning on being in the area, you go.
‘Tis the season for Halloween haunts and deliciously tasty beers! Halloween is just around the corner and I could barely contain my excitement. I’ve been busy prepping all month long for my favorite holiday by visiting pumpkin patches, putting out spooky decorations, deciding on the perfect costume and watching more horror films than I could count.
I love watching any horror film I can find. Zombies, clowns and slow-moving psycho maniacs, I can’t get enough of them. But since witching hour is nearly upon us, we have to honor some truly classic “black magic” women.
If you are gearing up for an evening of some bewitching entertainment, here are six beers to pair with some witches that graced us with their presence.
While I was traveling throughout New England this summer, it made me realize one thing – I love it there. Somehow everything within those upper states – their seafood, their mountains and especially their beer – is picturesque and fantastic. Because of this, it should come as no surprise that when it comes to brewing beer, New England breweries don’t mess around.
Nestled in Hudson Valley, NY, lays a new brewery that has been cranking out some fantastic, flavorful and experimental beers. Founded by two MIT engineering graduates who shared a passion for homebrewing, Equilibrium Brewery began distributing their delicious beverages in the latter half of 2016. They follow the belief that beer can be better when scientific principles are followed that focus on balancing drinkability with the flavor. The beers they are brewing are inviting, just waiting for you to take the next sip. They’ve been able to channel their scientific backgrounds and love of craft beer and create something worth praising.

Some people plan their vacations around tropical beaches, ancient ruins or exotic cities. While all of the above are fantastic options, I decided to plan my vacation this year around hiking and beer. This led me to the shocking realization that despite living in Pennsylvania, I’ve never traveled further north than Boston. How could that be?
I recently attended 2 sold out nights of New Found Glory’s 20 years of pop-punk anniversary tour in Philadelphia. I was feeling a little nostalgic to think this band has been around for 20 years now. They had performed during the first concert I ever went to. Completely unsure of what to expect at my first concert, I stood in a mosh pit with platform sandals on. Years later, I learned not to wear that same footwear attire to a concert ever again.

We all know that the craft beer trend is booming, but who would have guessed it was so hopping in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania? Lehigh Valley recently played host to their 4th annual Lehigh Valley Beer Week in February. Events included beer and brunch with specialty firkins, a beer can derby, a 5k race, tap takeovers, Mario Kart tournament and the Krewe de Brew Mardi Crawl, along with tons of beer specials at both local breweries and bars.
As a kid, you were always told, “No dessert until you finish your dinner.” If you were like me, you’d push around your broccoli and then wait for the dog to walk by, or hide the leafy greens under a rug as you eyed the chocolate cake sitting on the table.
But, now you are an adult. You get to decide if you want to finish your plate of steamed vegetables. And even better, you can have cookies and ice cream for breakfast if you choose. Even better, if you want to have beer for dessert, you could totally do that too!

I glanced at my phone, bleary-eyed to see a time of 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Unlike my typical weekend morning, I found myself standing outside of the Susquehanna Brewing Company building in a long line, waiting for the latest can release from their contract brewer, Søle Artisan Ales. The release was being held at noon and I had several long hours ahead of me for my first ever specialty release. Bundled up in layers upon layers of clothing and blankets, I anxiously waited in the cold Pennsylvania weather to get my gloved hands on a case of Pineapple Smoosh, one of the latest milkshake style beers.
