Holy hell, happy new year, here we go again. We’re all signed up for another 12 months and assumingly it’ll go by quicker than the last set did. That’s alright. Whether you did Dry January or were soaking wet all month, we made it through it. That’s what matters. Keep on, keeping on. In the meantime, here’s some of our Staff’s favorite beers from the last month (or so).

Just like that, January is almost over, and we’re on our way to the month full of love, February. One of the things we love most (and probably you as well if you’re reading this) is beer. There’s nothing better on a cold day than a great dark beer! If you’re looking to taste some amazing dark beers next weekend, be sure to grab a ticket to Wynkoop Brewing’s Day of Darks beer festival on the 4th.
Day of Darks is sure to leave to feeling all warm and fuzzy, as you sample winter seasonals, Brown Ales, Stouts, Sours and Barleywines from a number of your favorite local breweries. Tickets can be found here!

Derivation Blend #16 from Side Project Brewing is a powerhouse of a beer that has a lot going on. You’ve got multiple barrel-aged stouts, coffee, vanilla beans, and bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup. That combination can easily speed off the rails, but Side Project expertly blends all the components into a powerful yet delicate blended barrel-aged Imperial Stout.

An hour west of Austin sits the quaint historic town of Johnson City, TX. It’s the home of Lyndon Baines Johnson, the 36th American President. It’s named for his grandfather, Samuel Ealy Johnson, Sr. And the Blanco County seat is now best known as a cosy, picturesque stop on the Texas Wine Trail.
However, between the dual impacts of the pandemic and sky-rocketing house prices in the greater Austin area, Johnson City is taking on a new identity. It’s the hip Hill Country outpost, with three craft breweries and new concept watering hole Nice N Easy, home of locally produced Lightsome Wines and Yokefellow Beer.

Crushing Mass is the latest example of 3 Floyds Brewing living up to their moniker of “It’s Not Normal” while still putting out a dazzling Barrel-Aged Coffee Stout.
