It may be unseasonably hot (at least in Pennsylvania), but the PorchDrinking staff always has the best beers to keep cool. Without cold beer, I would be reduced to a puddle on my living room floor. I’m not exaggerating – 90 degrees in early May is insane. So, crank up the AC, stock the fridge in the garage and prepare to discover What We’re Drinking!
I want to drink beer, but I don’t want to be fat. After daily two-hour workouts, I’m so tired that one beer makes me fall asleep. This wasn’t the effect I was going for. I just wanted to have a moderately repectable dad-bod. Becoming an old man who falls asleep halfway through an episode of Home Improvement was not the plan. Anyway… Here’s a bunch of stuff I found on the Internet. This is The Weekly Buzz.
Did any of you get a chance to celebrate National Beer Day? I was working nights and was too exhausted to even think about beer. My fellow PorchDrinkers, however, poured a few amazing beers down their throats. It goes without saying that I am jealous. Very jealous. This is What We’re Drinking.
This was one of those weeks that I allowed my day job to get in the way of my fun beer writing job. I really had to push my Twitter-scrolling finger past its safety limits to get this post out in time. While I grab an ice pack and a beer, you can check out this edition of The Weekly Buzz.
We here at PorchDrinking hope that you spent this week’s holy days surrounded by friends, family and fine craft beers. April Fool’s Day is a sacred tradition that MUST be observed annually, so that we may keep our rich heritage of tomfoolery alive and vibrant. Without it, we would lose a large piece of what we are as a species. To that end, here is a celebration of nonsense and shenanigans. This is The Weekly Buzz.
I’m not going to lie to you. When it comes to Bonn Place Brewing Company, I’m about as biased as it gets. The beer is beautifully crafted, the taproom is cozy and the owners, Sam and Gina Masotto, are some of the warmest, friendliest people you’ll ever want to meet. If I lived a little closer, they would never get me to leave! When I heard that Bonn Place tapped Intergalacto Cooler this week, I headed to Bethlehem, PA for a visit.
It’s been another great week at PorchDrinking! Our staff has been enjoying some really beautiful beers. I, on the other hand, am on a diet and only drink beer one day per week. My life is a terrifyingly sober hellscape. On the plus side, my belly has shrunk a little bit… Anyway, this is What We’re Drinking!
This is a glorious day. It’s Friday, and I’m about to have an entire weekend off. This only happens about once a month, and I could not be more stoked. My weekend beer plans are already in the works. Have you started planning yet? Maybe these social media posts will help! Sharpen your pencils and pull out your day planner. This is The Weekly Buzz.
I had planned on writing something political this week. The urge to create a good old-fashioned doom-and-gloom post was almost undeniable, but it turns out that I don’t have the energy. There is simply no fuel left in my tank. We had a snowstorm on the second day of spring, which led to a lot of unwelcome shoveling. I had to replace the battery in my fiancee’s car (in the midst of the heaped-up snow). It’s just been one of those weeks. Here’s some stuff from Twitter and Instagram. I’ll be in bed drinking beer and enjoying my Weekly Buzz.
Have you ever potty trained a toddler? I’m on my third, and it’s very stressful. There could be a child peeing in their pants or on my living room floor at literally any moment. At least I have beer. Delicious, mind-numbing beer. I drank a bunch and then scrolled through Twitter. Check out what I found in this edition of The Weekly Buzz!
Not every beer needs to be a whale or unicorn. The humble fridge beer holds a very important place in the beer drinker’s daily routine. This is a beverage that you can enjoy with a simple home-cooked meal, while mowing the lawn or during a pre-concert tailgate party — to mitigate the need to purchase $12 light beers inside the venue. Starr Hill‘s Front Row is an easy-drinking golden ale that fulfills all of these needs beautifully.
The PorchDrinking staff was so busy drinking and writing about great beer that they didn’t even have time to send us their photos! Luckily, we have a few powerful multitaskers in our midst who sent these glorious beers for us to ogle. Grab a sticky note and prepare to take some brief notes. This is What We’re Drinking.
Since I’m writing this on International Women’s Day, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank all of my strong, creative female colleagues at PorchDrinking. Without them, this humble beer blog would be but a shadow of itself. Their hard work and dedication keeps this train on the tracks, and their fresh points of view help us keep our content fresh and relevant in an ever-changing world. I invite you all to raise a glass to them! Now, here’s some stuff I found on Twitter. This is The Weekly Buzz.
We drink beer so you don’t have to! OK, maybe that isn’t true. But we do drink beer, and we love to tell you all about it. These are the beers that our hardworking team of PorchDrinkers has been enjoying this week. Buckle up, folks! This is What We’re Drinking.
I barely drank any beer this week. The disappointment is very real. What compounds these feelings of regret is that I had to search for fun beer things on Twitter and Instagram all week. I do this all for you, dear readers. If I don’t, who will? I mean… I know you could just do it yourselves, but I like to feel important. Enjoy this edition of The Weekly Buzz!
I recently decided to make the hour drive to Iron Hill Brewery‘s Phoenixville, Pennsylvania location. So with my fiancée and daughter in tow, I braved some pretty terrible parking conditions. After a brisk walk down Bridge Street, we were there. Iron Hill is one of the winningest breweries in GABF history, and they brewed a beer for some more recent local champions — the Philadelphia Eagles. Named for the trick play that sealed the Eagles’ victory, Philly Special is a beer that has a few tricks up its own sleeves.
I’m not going to lie to you. I barely got on Twitter this week, and the bulk of that time was arguing the pronunciation of Hefeweizen with some podcasters. Despite that, I think I still managed to find a bunch of fun posts to share with you all! The most dominant theme was #DrinkItNow Day. I normally ignore made-up Twitter holidays, but this one seems worthwhile. Encouraging you beer-hoarding nerds to empty out your cellars is a mission I can really get behind! Open up that vertical of barrel-aged Stouts and enjoy The Weekly Buzz!
Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but our undying love for craft beer shall live on forever. There is nothing more beautiful than malt, hops and yeast working together to birth a delicious brew. I’m getting a little teary eyed just thinking about it. Our team of hopeless romantics has sought out some truly tasty beers this week! This is What We’re Drinking!
It’s been another fun week on Beer Twitter! There has been so much going on that a bunch of things probably slipped past my net. Either way, I’ve got a fun collection of stuff for you in this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz, so make sure your boss isn’t around, crack open a beer and start scrolling!
January was dragging by slowly, but it is finally gone. Hopefully, Punxsutawney Phil will have avoided his shadow by now and delivered unto us an early spring. If he decrees that there will be six more weeks of winter, at least we can take solace in the fact the there are still PorchDrinkers out there. They will continue to seek out great beer and tell us all about it. So raise a glass to our intrepid team and enjoy What We’re Drinking!
