Colorado’s Best Fresh Hop Beers Presented by On Tap Credit Union

For the fourth installment of PorchDrinking’s Blind Tasting Series presented by On Tap Credit Union, breweries from around Colorado submitted their fresh hop beers. To start with, the Brewer’s Association defines Fresh Hop beers as, “Ales or lagers are brewed with freshly harvested hops, typically no more than 72 hours prior to being added. Such hops might be undried fresh or frozen cones or ground material, or freshly kilned dried cones or pellets.” For this tasting, we received Fresh Hop beers from 16 different Colorado breweries.

The ROI of the Great American Beer Festival

The 40th anniversary of the Great American Beer Festival marks the first time the event has been held in person and open to the public since 2019. To say that brewers and craft beer fans are excited is an extreme understatement. Little Machine Beer | Big Money Pale Ale

If you ask Little Machine Beer’s co-owner and brewer, Brett Williams his idea of a perfect beer, he will tell you about his recent release, Big Money Pale Ale. Named after the cost put into sourcing “the Rolls Royce of malt,” according to Simpsons Malt, UK native Maris Otter. Additionally, flaked oats, Amarillo, Citra and Mosaic hops combine to create a low abv Pale Ale with big hop flavor. Sitting at 5.6%, with balanced bitterness and a dry, aromatic finish, this beer is ideal for the conclusion of summer.

Event Preview | Denver Rare Beer Tasting Announces Full Pour List

This year on the Friday of GABF week, Denver Rare Beer Tasting will celebrate its 13th anniversary with 60 breweries pouring some of their rarest and most sought-after beers. The event taking place, Friday, October 7 from 12-4pm once again benefits Pints for Prostates, a grassroots organization with the aim to raise awareness among men about prostate cancer and the importance of early detection in fighting the disease. This event “gives us the opportunity to reach men through the universal language of beer with an important health message,” said Rick Lyke, founder of Pints for Prostates. As always free men’s health screenings will be offered at the event, and all proceeds will be used to provide screenings for thousands of men, giving them important health data and early warnings about potential prostate cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other common male health issues.
