September 3, 2018 |

The coalition known as Keep It Public joined Broomfield’s 4 Noses Brewing in bringing together more than 20 Colorado breweries and a cidery during the Summer Shindig, held on August 25 at the Hangar at Stanley Marketplace in Aurora, Colorado. Keep It Public is a 501c3 non-profit organization, run exclusively by volunteers bound by a mission to educate the community on the American public land system.

From Reykjavik to Vik | Our Journey Through Iceland’s Breweries & Brewhouses 🇮🇸

August 23, 2018 |

For the past nine months, Katie and I have been adventuring our way through Minnesota’s craft beer community. With more than 150 breweries and brewpubs to visit — last we heard that number was actually upwards of 180 now — we’ve been busy and content with what’s right here in our own backyard. But sometimes a new adventure calls, and when an opportunity to visit breweries in Iceland, Ireland, London and Paris came calling — we answered.

In truth, no one came calling for us; we just happened to be heading to Europe on a sort of one-year anniversary/bucket list trip. Still, we took advantage of our time abroad to visit some new taprooms, make some new friends and drink some new beers.

Brewery Showcase | Wiley Roots Brewing Co.

August 13, 2018 |

For the past five years, Kyle and Miranda Carbaugh have been operating Wiley Roots Brewing Company on a quiet dead-end street in Greeley, Colorado. They’ve run their small space with a friendly and humble mindset, believing that if the beer is good, then the rest will fall into place. The Carbaughs have even come to affectionately refer to themselves and their brewery as “the weird kid in class”.

The OGs of Craft Beer | New Glarus Brewing Co. – Spotted Cow

August 7, 2018 | 3

In 2001, I was a bartender at a joint in Wausau, Wisconsin called Loppnow’s Sports Bar. Our main fare was tap and bottled Bud Light and Miller Lite, but occasionally we sold some Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Smirnoff Ice and Blue Moon. I don’t remember how many taps we had, but I recall that only one rotated: usually with Point Lager or a stout that wasn’t Guinness (we had no nitro). These barrels often took a couple of weeks to cash, with one exception – New Glarus Brewing Co.‘s Spotted Cow Farmhouse Ale.

Cape May Brewing Company | Summer Catch

July 27, 2018 | 1

Heading down to the Jersey Shore is a rite of passage for all of those who reside in the Philadelphia area. Summer hasn’t officially hit until one makes the short drive to the Atlantic Ocean, strolls on the boardwalk and enjoys some relaxation in the sand. And obviously, a crucial piece to the puzzle of that relaxation is which beer(s) gets packed. Although now, there is no longer a need to logistically figure out that choice before hitting the road. With new breweries opening up shop all along the coastline, your options when arriving are bountiful. And if you find your way to the southern tip of the state, Cape May Brewing Company awaits you. Revolution Brewing | Fist City Pale Ale

July 20, 2018 |

One of my favorite examples of a local beer success story is Revolution Brewing’s Fist City. Every now and then, you’ll find a local craft beer being sold in 12-pack cans at the liquor store. While the 4-pack of 16-ounce cans is the standard for most local craft brewers today, few make it to 12-pack status; a sign that this beer has made it.

Event Preview | Arizona Craft Brewer’s Guild’s Real Wild & Woody Beer Festival

July 17, 2018 | 1

When the temperature is well over 100 degrees, there are two places most people want to be: the pool or in air conditioning. The Arizona Craft Brewer’s Guild wasn’t able to host a beer festival pool party, so they did the next best thing and will be hosting Arizona’s premier craft beer festival, Real Wild & Woody, on July 28, 2018 in the air conditioning at the Phoenix Convention Center. In addition to a varied selection of brews, they’re bringing the great outdoors inside with an outdoorsy, camping theme throughout and a bunch of interactive games for attendees to play. Read More

Tired Hands Brewing Co. | SEHT Saison

July 16, 2018 |

Good old Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love. Home to the Philly cheese steak, the current Super Bowl champions, the Liberty Bell, soft pretzels and a heaping selection of fantastic beers. One could spend a full day traveling to all the breweries in the Philadelphia area and not even come close to trying them all. Trust me, I’ve tried and failed.

2SP Brewing Company | The End

June 26, 2018 |

There is a jubilant exuberance that takes over a Delco native when you ask where they hail from. They mention the nickname Delco, short for Delaware County, PA, a region adjacent to the city of Philadelphia, before referring to themselves as a Pennsylvania native. They will fill you in on Wawa, their beloved Iggles (known by most as the Eagles) and what to order at Pica’s. But they also are proud of their local breweries—rightfully so! 2SP Brewing Company, located in Aston, PA, has been brewing any and all styles that they please with consistent quality since opening their doors in 2015. 2SP’s newly released double dry-hopped DIPA, The End, exemplifies that quality.

Has the mention of a brewery ever been so powerful as to trigger a flood of memories? The immediate response might drift toward memories of your favorite beer, or maybe your very first. Perhaps you thought of someone special you shared this beer with, or even a special trip or occasion.
