Set on the scenic shores of Lake Michigan, the Door County Beer Festival boasts one of the most unique backdrops of any beer fest in the nation. Door County has been a destination vacation for many years due to its beautiful location, but it’s the recent rise of the local craft beer scene that has added to the luster of the premiere Wisconsin peninsula getaway spot. The Door County Beer Festival celebrates all of this by combining locally sourced food, local beer and a good vibe to create a truly unique beer festival experience.

Event Preview | Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Chicago
June 6, 2017 | Taylor Laabs 1*Feature image courtesy of Sierra Nevada*
Sierra Nevada is known for some fantastic beer, from their Narwhal barrel-aged imperial stout to their Torpedo Extra IPA, but they’re also known for hosting the nation’s largest traveling beer festival: Beer Camp. Sierra Nevada’s annual ode to nationwide craft beer takes place in a rotating list of 8 cities every year. Last year, I got to experience Beer Camp in Milwaukee; this year, Beer Camp is coming to Chicago’s Navy Pier, and I can’t wait to check it out. Read More
Event Preview | Firestone Walker Invitational
June 2, 2017 | David ThompsonPart of being an adult is understanding what your priorities are in life. That is exactly why my wife and I are heading down to Paso Robles, California for the Firestone Walker Invitational one day after closing on our house. Yes we could spend the weekend moving out from the in-laws and settling into our first house, but we can do that anytime. And this is the Firestone Walker Invitational, a beer festival described as “An epic yet intimate gathering of 50+ leading brewers from around the nation & world celebrating craft beer in our hometown of Paso Robles.”

Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap – Two Brothers CCBW Collaboration: Decades in the Making
June 1, 2017 | Mathew PowersSometimes, a beer event comes along that encapsulates the enormous impact the craft beer industry has had on modern imbibe culture. For example, the pairing between suburban-Chicago’s Two Brothers Brewing and Chicago’s Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap during the last day of Chicago Craft Beer Week seemed ordinary on the surface, but a deeper meaning lied underneath. Yes, the two craft-beer-focused operations collaborated on a beer — an American Wheat Beer with melon, but the beer did not take a few weeks to make; it took 30 years.

Ultimate 6er | Pour Lists from 6 New STL Brewers for Heritage Festival
May 31, 2017 | Jordan PalmerCall it experience, call it trial by fire, but I have found that the best way to maximize your beer festival participation is to have a plan. After perusing the attending breweries, all of which I love, I found a thread for this years plan – The New Kids On The Block.

Event Preview | St. Louis Brewers Guild’s Heritage Festival
May 30, 2017 | Jordan PalmerFeatured image courtesy of St. Louis Brewers Guild.
It was a big deal to move a festival as large as the St. Louis Brewers Guild’s Heritage Festival from Forest Park to the Arch grounds, but I think it is one both local brewers and beer lovers agree is worth it.
There is no other beer festival in the city that offers the rugged poetry of the Mississippi River and the majesty of the Gateway Arch as its landscape (which, I must say, takes on new meaning after a few beers and a clear starry sky). Read More
Event Recap | Brewed Food Seattle ft. Trove & Fremont Brewing
May 25, 2017 | Hannah CarlsonJensen Cummings, of Brewed Food, comes from a family of chefs, but in watching him captivate an audience this last Monday, I would think that he was a descendent of actors, politicians, perhaps board-room straight-shooters. The way he took the stage immediately enraptured his audience, and stirred up an excitement that electrified Trove, a Korean restaurant in Seattle, Washington.

Event Preview | Odell Brewing Co. Small Batch Festival
May 23, 2017 | Cecelia KathleenFeatured image courtesy of Odell Brewing Co.
What’s great about Odell Brewing Company (besides the fact that it has an employee stock ownership plan) is the brewery’s ability to produce high quality beer no matter the style or the size of production. From the Fort Collins brewery’s core line up, to one-off specialty taproom ales, to its Cellar Series barrel-aged beers, I always know that an Odell beer is going to deliver.
