Stillwater Artisanal | Gose Gone Wild World Tour Phuket
March 3, 2017 | Jose MinayaABV: 4.8%
Stillwater Artisanal is going on tour! Gose Gone Wild World Tour Phuket is the first stop on their journey featuring mango, lemongrass, Thai chilies and sea salt all accentuating a sour wheat ale. Where are my sunglasses?
Founders Brewing Co. | Frootwood Barrel-Aged Cherry Ale
March 2, 2017 | Mathew PowersABV: 8%
You won’t find the best beer from Founders Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids, Michigan — you’ll find it below Grand Rapids, where barrels of goodness hibernate in caves. For example, each April, the famous Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) arises from its slumber and seeks to conquer the palates of beer geeks everywhere. And this year, for Founders Brewing’s 20th Anniversary, several special beers are emerging from those caves, too. So, let us talk about the first release, a barrel-aged cherry ale from Founders named Frootwood.
Savannah River Brewing Co. | No Jacket Required Pilsner
March 1, 2017 | Jose MinayaABV: 5%
When a brewery comes out of the gate with a Czech-style pilsner, you know they absolutely mean business! The Augusta, Georgia-based Savannah River Brewing Company held nothing back during their grand opening this weekend. So with a six-pack in hand after a great Georgia brewery tour, I had to let you know what I think!
SweetWater Brewing Co. | Through the Brambles
February 28, 2017 | Mark ElliotSweetWater Brewing Company and Southeast beer drinking basically go hand in hand. Since 1997, SweetWater has been pumping out their signature 420 Extra Pale Ales and really helped start and shape beer culture in the Atlanta metro area. As craft brew consumption and taste has continued to grow, SweetWater’s beer profile has grown right along with it. Whether lining up for Anniversary Series beers or longing for Dank Tank beers of the past, SweetWater grew a beer following by pushing flavors and higher alcohol content long before this was the “mainstream.”
Silver City Brewery | Tropic Haze IPA

Well folks, Silver City Brewery has done it again. After a busy 2016 celebrating their 20th anniversary, the Bremerton-based brewery isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, instead releasing a new year-round beer onto the market: The Tropic Haze IPA. This juicy brew hits it out of the park – playing into the “haze craze” that is sweeping the nation while also maintaining an element of mystery and allure for the drinker due to a certain, classified ingredient.
Monday Night Brewing | Slap Fight
February 24, 2017 | Sarah DuffyABV: 5.8% | IBU: 58
“Present this beer to a friend. If he does not drink it immediately, slap him as hard as you can. Repeat,” reads the description for Monday Night Brewing’s Slap Fight. Frankly, I couldn’t agree more.
Southern Tier Brewing Co. | Nu Skool IPA
February 23, 2017 | Mike ZollerABV: 6% | IBU: 55
As fruitier and juicier IPAs crowd the market, the debate has ensued as to whether this is the best route for the beer style. Personally, I think both can coincide, and I hope that we continue to see the classic more bitter IPAs, as well as the NE-style IPAs, flourish. One excellent example of a fruity (but not over the top) IPA is Nu Skool IPA from Southern Tier Brewing Company.
Creature Comforts Brewing Co. | Athena Paradiso
February 22, 2017 | Sarah DuffyABV: 4.5%
I hadn’t done much research on what to expect before I tried Creature Comforts Brewing Company’s Athena Paradiso, so color me surprised when I poured it out and it was a deep red color. (Color me surprised – get it? Haha. Seriously guys. Funny stuff). Paradiso is a fruit treated version of Athena, Creature Comforts year-round Berliner weisse, brewed with tart cherries, raspberries and cranberries. I don’t know if it’s just because of the proximity to the day, but this beer definitely tasted just like Valentine’s Day – a little sweet and a little sour. I guess it’s something to try when you’re not quite sure what you’re in the mood for. Read More
4 Hands Brewing Company | Chocolate Milk Stout
February 21, 2017 | Jordan PalmerThere is one craft brewery that I pass everyday on my way home from work each night. 4 Hands Brewing sits on the edge of downtown St. Louis inside a 20,000 square foot brewing facility featuring two tasting rooms and 3,000 square feet dedicated to barrel aging. They produce five year-round beers and a growing list of seasonal and barrel aged beers.
Pipeworks & Marz’s Super Piña Collider is a Collaboration Unlike Any Other
February 20, 2017 | Mike ZollerWhen you hear about two breweries working together to brew a collaboration beer, you’d expect the brewers of brewery A to go over to brewery B and then together they create one beer. That’s how 99.9% of collaboration beers go about. However, Pipeworks and Marz had something different in mind.
Mikkeller | Chipotle Porter
February 16, 2017 | John AmanteaABV: 6.6% | IBU: N/A
It’s cold. Goddammit, it’s cold. For those of you not so blessed to be living below the Mason-Dixon Line, you’re likely in the midst of what’s been a long, cold winter. As the mounds of snow continue to grow and you begin to forget that the sun exists; winter tightens its icy grip this time of year. So, how can you fight back and stay warm? Should you bundle up with extra layers or rely on hand and toe warmers in gloves and socks? While those options are smart and practical, I tend to go another route. I avoid the cold by staying inside with beer, such as Mikkeller Chipotle Porter, the fuzzy slippers of the soul.
Samuel Adams | Fresh As Helles
February 15, 2017 | Mathew PowersABV: 5.4% | IBU: 18
Do you have a propensity to get a little fresh with blondes? If you do, go to Helles… Samuel Adams Fresh as Helles Lager, that is.
Ahh, the Munich classic provides familiar tastes that comforts one like a blanket on a cold winter’s night, and when the beer is constructed by a modern craft brewer there is the added bonus of exquisite quality and innovation. Sam Adams Fresh as Helles is that combination of classic comfort with a modern craft-beer spin.

SweetWater Brewing Co. | Grass Monkey
February 13, 2017 | Jose MinayaABV: 5.4%
It’s February and it may be cold, it may be wintery, but If you are like me you are already thinking about summer. You are yearning for the renewal of sunny days, baseball games and the general atmosphere that comes with a new fresh spring. SweetWater Brewing Company is in the same mindset and their new seasonal beer, Grass Monkey, is here to usher you right into the spring. If you think this is just a simple light delicate spring beer, you don’t know SweetWater. Grass Monkey is light, but its complexity comes from citrusy hops and, in true SweetWater flair, an addition of lemongrass.
Spoonwood Brewing Company | 2 Minutes To Midnight
February 10, 2017 | Gregory AceroABV: 10.3% | IBU: 61
This past weekend my wife and I were able to make a trip to meet a few friends at Spoonwood Brewing Company. I absolutely love this brewery because of the great atmosphere for everyone, especially families with children, the entertainment, the food and, of course, the beer! I arrived and quickly grabbed their draft list and instantly my eyes picked out the words “Imperial Stout”—along side those glorious words was 2 Minutes To Midnight. Along with being a huge IPA fan, I am also big on imperial stouts and Spoonwood’s Imperial Stout was an absolute hit that night!
Brewery Showcase | Narrow Gauge Brewing
February 9, 2017 | Jordan PalmerForget the Hollywood hoopla, this is brewing award season! In a recent Porchdrinking.com piece, it was noted that Narrow Gauge Brewing Company won the RateBeer award for Missouri’s Best New Brewery. With so many new breweries coming to life in Missouri, one couldn’t help but wonder what it was about Narrow Gauge that electrified the local beer loving public. We recently got the chance to interview brewer Jeff Hardesty who shed light on Missouri’s new hot brewery.

Epic Brewing Company | Big Bad Baptista
February 7, 2017 | Chris & Sylvia HollandsABV 12.5%
Last year flew by, picking off celebrities along the way. Each week we were viciously stripped of a little bliss replaced with dread, fearing who could be next. Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister passed away at the end of 2015, opening the floodgates to a particularly tough 2016. Consequently, if he could go, anyone could. Because of this vulnerability, it drove us to stop and think about the past. We wish there were better reasons to revisit the legends of our youth. When they leave us, we are forced to fire up Netflix or Spotify and immerse ourselves in their undeniable genius.
