Hoppy and [Alcohol] Free: Non-Alcoholic Hazy IPA Takes Flight

September 7, 2023 |

Hazy IPAs have been the most popular style in craft beer for half a decade now, so if the nascent non-alcoholic (NA) segment of craft was going to gain a foothold, it was critical for this style to be a big part of that movement. Russell was, in fact, the winner of Samuel Adams’ 8th Brewer Experienceship program.

Three New Hazy IPAs You Can Find Nationwide

January 22, 2018 | 1

Let’s face it, the haze craze is here to stay. What started as murmurs among beer blogs is now a nationwide phenomenon and can be lauded (or scoffed at) as one of America’s major craft beer creations over the past decade.

Cooking with Beer | Pig Out Sliders

January 22, 2015 | 3

What is the one thing everyone does on NFL Sunday? Pig out, of course. No matter what team you’re rooting for, I’m sure you’ll be shoveling food and beer into your pie hole while your eyes are glued to the TV. To honor this feast of snacks, I’m bringing you a recipe for some epic sliders. First, you will make a hoppy orange pulled pork with Rebel IPA to properly perfume your house before the party. Next, you will make a creamy peanut coleslaw so the pulled pork can have a crunchy friend in this tiny sandwich. Then… sausage. Because a ‘pig out’ slider clearly needs extreme amounts of pork. Finally, you will pile it all up on a Hawaiian sweet roll because they are the best and the only real way to properly transport this much pork into your gullet. Good luck to all the teams and may the pork be with you.

Ultimate 6er | Backcountry Skiers and Snowboarders

December 19, 2013 |

It is well documented that Coloradans have an intense passion for the outdoors. I’m talking fire in the circus and somehow the flaps are locked kind of intense. So it’s no surprise that after years on the slopes, many Colorado residents feel the need to up the ante when it comes to winter sports. Enter backcountry skiing and snowboarding. Backcountry skiers and snowboarders can be seen stranded intermittently, dotting the sides of the winding mountain roads adjacent to ski resorts with constant patience in wait for a ride back to the top of the hill, usually with a tasty brew. While packs and equipment are not only common, but necessary, a reserved spot for a churchkey in said packs and equipment, is not. Not to worry, here is your ultimate 6er of beers while waiting for your buddy and Truck (Truck is the name of his Prius) accompanied by unique ways to open bottled beers with limited equipment. Samuel Adams | Fat Jack

October 16, 2013 |

ABV: 8.5% | IBU: 25

This small-batch, double pumpkin ale eluded me last year, so imagine my surprise when I found a bomber of it at the Kroger in little ol’ Athens, Ohio over the weekend. I was ecstatic! And I have to say, it did not disappoint. Made with 28 pounds of real pumpkin per barrel, from the moment I opened the bottle all I could think was “this is fall.”
