I just realized today that I’ve gone to the gym 11 days in a row and plan on going twice tomorrow. What kind of human being does that to themselves? I could be drinking beer, but instead I’ll be sweating my butt off. I guess if I burn more calories I can drink more beer. Searching Twitter and Instagram for beer-related content is definitely the thirstiest of work. Enjoy the fruits of my labor in this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz!
This edition of The Weekly Buzz is physically difficult to write, After my workout today, I can barely lift my fingers to type. With my muscles chack-a-block with lactic acid, it’s going to take every ounce of my remaining strength to crack open a few beers tonight, but I will persevere because I am a champion. When the going gets tough, I dig deep and say, “Nothing will stop me from drinking this beer or writing The Weekly Buzz.”

While canning, some beer inevitably ends up on the floor. That beer goes to waste–an acceptable loss in the packaging process. The world of beer news, however has a savior. So, which of you maniacs woke up ungodly early to hunt for Black Friday beer releases or discount video game consoles? I did neither. I went to my job and nursed my Thanksgiving hangover like a responsible grown up. With every passing minute, I grew more and more enraged by BCBS posts. First of all, I don’t really care what beer you bought, and, secondly, it’s just really fancy Budweiser. There’s no need to flood every beer forum with pictures of your “haul”. Anyway… Other things happened this week, too. Here they are in an all-new edition of The Weekly Buzz.
This week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz is going to be a little shorter than usual. It’s November, and cold weather has finally arrived, but I refuse to admit it and fire up the furnace. It is a brisk 54 degrees in my living room, and I will soon be departing to enjoy some free heat at my local gym. I might even work out, too! In the meantime, here’s some stuff I found on the internet. Cheers!
Have you ever had one of those weeks where you’re completely and totally scatterbrained? I am having one right now. I can’t believe I even managed to pull together this modest collection of social media nonsense. It just goes to show that you can complete any task if you procrastinate until the last possible second and then scroll through Twitter at a frantic pace. So, in honor of my half-assery – which may or may not be a word – let’s raise a glass and dive into The Weekly Buzz.
This November, Yards Brewing Company will expand into a new location in Philadelphia’s beer-savvy Northern Liberties neighborhood. Located at 500 Spring Garden Street and called Yards Brewery and Taproom, this expansion provides a new 70,000-sqare-foot facility to produce their approachable ales and lagers. Yards was already one of the most recognizable craft beer brands in the city, but the move to this facility – located only blocks from the historic Liberty Bell – helps to cement their reputation as “Philadelphia’s Brewery”.
Another week has gone by, and I’ve spent too many hours on Twitter. I think it’s affecting my personality. I engaged a troll the other day, and I don’t even know why! Is there a 12-step program for Social Media? I’m not saying that I have a problem, but, I mean, it’s pretty likely that I have a problem. Anyway… Here is some fun beer stuff that I found for you! It’s the week after GABF. We’re all worn out from all the crazy social media chatter. That’s why I kept this edition of The Weekly Buzz short, sweet and light. There are a few event postings, a job announcement and some good old fashioned shenanigans. So, grab a beer. It’s time to zone out and stare at The Weekly Buzz.
Today is the first day of fall, although you wouldn’t know it. It’s supposed to be in the 80s again in Pennsylvania. Ridiculous. Oktoberfest beers are releasing, and I’m stuck here wondering how exactly I’m supposed to enjoy a ridiculously oversized Märzen in that kind of heat? I guess I will just have to suck it up and muddle through. Finish off those summer seasonals that you’ve been hoarding and get ready for The Weekly Buzz!
Did any of you know that parents of a kindergartner must endure no less than four events at the school? Four. That is all before school starts. There are meet-and-greets with teachers, self-guided tours and practice school bus rides. The real kicker is that none of these events serves beer. I’m running for PTA to undo this travesty. In the meantime, here are a bunch of beer things that I found on Twitter and Instagram. This is The Weekly Buzz.
Compared to last week, this week was relatively quiet. The news that the sun is going to go dark and leave us in a lawless scenario (a la “The Purge”) is a little unsettling, but I have craft beer and a deadbolt. I’ll be fine. Safely locked in my highly secure bunker, I will not rest until I’ve brought you the finest tweets on the internet! The end may be nigh, but that doesn’t stop you from sitting back, relaxing and enjoying this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz!

I just finished a seven-day, 73-hour work week. This was a completely unexpected turn of events, and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to complete The Weekly Buzz. Fear not, dear readers! Sacrifices were made, the proverbial candle was burned at both ends, and I managed to cut and paste some tweets for your enjoyment. You’re welcome! I’m going brewery hopping for the next 24 hours. Don’t you dare try to stop me!
It’s a federal holiday, an extra day off from work and, above all else, a celebration of independence. The Fourth of July is a celebration of our nation’s independence but, this week, we also found ourselves in a discussion about the independence of craft beer. In this edition of The Weekly Buzz, we’ll explore life, liberty (from Big Beer) and the pursuit of happiness. There’s no better way to pursue happiness than by enjoying a fresh, American-made craft beer, so I suggest you drink one while reading!
It is very hard to type when there is a 16-month-old baby sitting on your arm. She is singing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” so the pros outweigh the cons. It’s only a matter of time,however, until pins-and-needles become a very real threat. Despite my impeded blood circulation, I managed to comb Twitter for a few morsels of beer news. Hello, everyone! Your fearless leader for the Weekly Buzz, Dan Bortz, is on vacation so I have been tasked with bringing you the very best of the week’s highlights! This week was a big week in the craft beer world. Why you ask? Well, it’s American Craft Beer Week, of course. (Yeah, you probably already knew that.)
The inclusion of so many Pennsylvania breweries was a happy accident brought on by sleep deprivation, but I’m sticking with it. I love the beers brewed in my commonwealth and thing that you should drink them no matter where you live. I will personally guide any and all beer tourists to the best breweries in PA. I mean… I’ll do it if I’m not busy. I’ll probably be busy… Have no fear, dear reader. We have plenty of fun the rest of the country in this edition of The Weekly Buzz, too.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, “Work is for suckers.” The overtime checks are nice, but the more time I spend at work, the less time I can spend tirelessly searching Twitter on your behalf. My employers just don’t understand that I like my readers more than I like them. I sacrificed my own health and well-being by forgoing sleep and compiling this week’s edition of The Weekly Buzz.
