2019 Oscars | Red Carpet BINGO

February 23, 2019 |

There’s plenty to watch at the 91st Academy Awards this Sunday. After controversy over old tweets, appointed Oscars host Kevin Hart dropped out, and the ceremony will not have a host. A Netflix film is nominated for Best Picture—NETFLIX! The guys who used to mail you DVDs might win Best Picture! And here at PorchDrinking, there’s a drinking game for the ceremony. Play along!

But before the ceremony begins, there’s some fun to watch on the red carpet! We’re bringing you Oscars BINGO for watching the (seemingly endless) hours of coverage of beautiful people showing up to celebrate each other. Who will the stars of Hollywood be wearing? What will the color of the year be? Will Spike Lee wear a hat? How much small talk about the freakishly cold LA weather this weekend will E! hosts be making with celebrities? Find out at your Oscars viewing party, as you play PorchDrinking Oscars BINGO during the Red Carpet with your friends! Read More

What We’re Drinking | November 2, 2018

November 2, 2018 |

We have a fresh month ahead of us, and to me the correct way to start a month is having some fresh beer to match. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to turn over a new leaf this fall by forgetting the candy coma I endured earlier this week… that was rough. Is a candy coma a medical condition? If so, I had it and I didn’t even trick or treat. Chuck that leftover candy (if you even have any) and pour a fresh beer instead. We have some great options from the PorchDrinkers this week, so scroll down to see What We’re Drinking.

Breweries are increasingly becoming integral centers of our communities by routinely providing fun, flavor, and festivities. In addition, they often serve as hosts for discussions of local issues and serve as a place to share information about local charities. Occasionally, breweries go above and beyond the call of duty by providing aid or money. Here are a select few of the many ways craft breweries gave back in 2016.

The collaborative spirit of the craft beer industry has long been one of my favorite topics to cover, so I was ecstatic to learn about the first-ever Washington Beer Collaboration Festival put on by the Washington Beer Commission.
