Set out for southern fusion flavors and a relentless pursuit of perfecting beer and you’ll find yourself at Southernside Brewing Co. Located in the Southernside neighborhood of Greenville, SC, this brewery is just a handful of blocks from downtown and a stone’s throw from where the likes of Shoeless Joe Jackson used to knock baseballs and steal bags on the diamond. Southernside is positioned to take its local patrons, as well as your taste buds to the next-level and beers like Descendant of The Stars Barrel-Aged Molé Imperial Stout will do just that.
The South Carolina Brewers Guild will embark on a new tradition on October 15 in the state’s capital, Columbia, by hosting the first annual Best of South Carolina Craft Beer Festival. This marquee event will present itself as the state’s largest gathering of craft breweries on record.

The following local breweries are getting creative by using community connections to create beers that both tie directly to their area while creating completely unique brews for their neighborhood.
If you’re not familiar with Holy Mountain Brewing out of Seattle, then this beer, The Ox, will motivate you to change that. This barrel-aged saison is brewed with orange zest and Cascade hops, fermented in oak barrels (drooling). I had the pleasure of trying some of their brews for the first time recently and was floored by both the innovation of their brewing and quality of beer, particularly this saison.
