“New Year, New Beer” pretty much sums up Deschutes Brewery‘s 2020 release announcement. The Bend, Ore., local has added many innovative offerings to its lineup, and now that we’re in 2020, Deschutes is adding even more. Deschutes will be providing new offerings to its year-round releases, limited releases, the Brewery Reserve Series, Small Batch Reserves and draft-only releases.
So, without further ado, here are the descriptions the brewery shared of what you’ll be able to look forward to in the Deschutes 2020 lineup.
Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC) recently announced their lineup for 2020. Some of the highlights from their announcement includes canning Dortmunder Gold Lager, Great Lakes IPA, and Mexican Lager with Lime, as well as two new Legendary Series offerings and a Limited Release bottle series.
The Big Beers, Belgians, and Barleywines Festival will be celebrating their 20th anniversary with their 2020 event this year. Over the years, the festival has grown to extend beyond the walls of the Commercial Tasting event, much like what happens each year with GABF. Now, the town of Breckenridge plays host to an assortment of events the week of Big Beers. So, we decided to help round-up everything happening outside of the festival itself. While you’re planning your weekend in Breckenridge, be sure to also check out the 2020 Big Beers 20th Reunion Special Pours and our breakdown of the Commercial Tasting Pour List.
Being able to support small businesses, especially ones that pertain to beer, is a large part of the craft industry. Adam and Katie of Ale Adventures shared some of their favorite beer brands and products and we’ve shared some products beer lovers would enjoy as holiday gift ideas. So, as we approach the holiday season, it’s only fitting that we highlight Flatirons Soap Works, a Colorado-based small business that is well integrated into the beer community and whose product allows beer lovers to further incorporate beer into their lives.
Each year, Ratio Beerworks releases Genius Wizard, their bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout. This year’s release took place on December 13 and attendees of the release had the opportunity to participate in an immersive art event and culinary showcase in addition to trying this year’s Genius Wizard and its variants. This release marks the fifth time this big, barrel-aged beer is released.
After an incredibly successful release on Black Friday eve of their latest barrel-aged beer, Du Hast Cake (and other delicious beers), Wiley Roots Brewing Co. is following it up with yet another fun, creative release. The Greeley local will not only be releasing nine new beers on Friday, December 13, but one of the beers will include a special mixed six-pack that creates a board game from the labels of each individual beer can.
Does it get any better than a cheesecake made with beer? Maybe. But this Raspberry Cheesecake made with WeldWerks Brewing Co.‘s Raspberry Cheesecake Berliner is definitely one that you don’t want to miss out on trying. The beer itself was inspired by this mouthwatering dessert; it seemed like a no-brainer to incorporate the beer into a recipe to further enhance the flavors before pairing it with the beer itself.
As the winter months are drawing near and the cooler weather is becoming more of a constant, it’s easy to reach for these lighter, more “summer-y” beers to enjoy on the days that are just slightly warmer. The Veil Brewing Co.‘s Never Never Backdown Backdown is one of those drinks that will bring back the warm memories of summer with just one sip.
Twitch has become an increasingly popular platform since it launched back in 2011. Now, in 2019, the platform reported having over 15 million daily active users who watch video streams. Although Twitch streams cover a plethora of genres, market researcher Newzoo reported that eSports account for 21.3% of Twitch viewing; Which doesn’t really come as a surprise with the popularity of Fortnite and gaming influencers/professional gamers such as Dr. Disrespect, Tfue, and Ninja (who actually announced an exclusive partnership with Microsoft’s Mixer streaming platform so he is no longer active on Twitch). Like many other activities, cracking a beer while watching your favorite stream can only enhance the experience. Although I personally have not dabbled much in the world of Twitch, I’m very fortunate enough to be dating someone who is. So, he was not only able to teach me more about one of his passions, but help me pair it with one of our shared passions: craft beer!
Lighter, low-calorie, more health-conscious beers are becoming increasingly popular in the craft beer world. We shared six crushable options in an Ultimate 6er and talked about breweries such as Sufferfest Beer Company, (Sierra Nevada acquired them earlier this year) targeting a segment within craft beer that is constantly growing. WeldWerks Brewing Company, who wowed the craft beer world by creating more than 100 new SKUs in 2018, recently released their version of a low-calorie beer: Fit Bits.
As the weather cools off, you may be left dreaming of those warm summer days when you’re lounging out and soaking up the sun. Although we’re not in the worst of the winter just yet, Prairie Artisan Ales‘ Paradise will keep you reminiscent of those summer days, despite being a Stout.
This has been another great year for the home state of the Great American Beer Festival. Colorado breweries took home a whopping 40 medals and two brewery/brewer of the year awards at this year’s GABF. Of the 40 medals, 13 of them were gold medals, 21 silver and six bronze. Without further ado, let’s deep dive into this some of this year’s winners.
This was made possible by Molly’s Spirits, your go-to stop for some of the best local and national beer drops throughout GABF week and beyond!
For the past two months, …
Fall is upon us and the weather is cooling off. It’s the perfect time to crack open some stouts and embrace this cooler weather. A few weeks back, Greeley’s Wiley Roots Brewing Company released the long-anticipated Vanilla Anonym, amongst many other beers.
Vanilla Anonym is part of Wiley Roots’ barrel-aging program and has been aged in bourbon barrels for the last 18 months. Those barrels were chosen specifically because they hoped the imparted bourbon and wood notes from the barrels would complement the beer nicely. Mission accomplished.
There’s been a lot of hype around Wiley Roots Brewing Co.‘s upcoming beer releases. The brewery is releasing not one, but SIX beers tomorrow, September 6, 2019. “It is our belief that beer embodies a sense of place and time, reflecting both where we are at any moment as well as where we have been,” shares the brewing company on their Facebook page, “When we release a new Slush variant, we believe those beers represent the summer months, easy drinking, refreshing, fruit forward, and most important of all – FUN.”
Now that the last NFL pre-season game is in the books, it’s time to get serious. Week one starts this week, and it’s game on! The Packers take on the Bears for Thursday Night Football and wraps up with the Broncos playing the Raiders on Monday. Needless to say, the lineup in between will be awesome! As you’re completing your Fantasy Football drafts or simply reaching for a nice, cold craft beer to sip on as you’re cheering on your favorite team, here’s a few beers that will go great with the games as week one is set to begin.
Over the years, the craft beer scene on the island of Oahu, specifically in the Honolulu area, has grown tremendously. More and more local breweries are popping up to cater to the growing interest in independent beer. With many visitors and college students coming from areas that have a booming craft beer scene, it’s only natural that the trend continues to grow on the island.
Although you’ll probably be spending more than two days and two nights if you’re making the trip to the Aloha State, here’s a round up of some breweries to visit if you want to dedicate a couple days just to visiting the local breweries.
Weekends are made for beer adventures and new beer experiences. Rosé All Day. Who hasn’t heard this phrase before? For beer lovers, the opportunity to do so, all the while still enjoying craft beer, is absolutely possible. The Rosé trend has become increasingly popular in the craft beer world, with many breweries have come up with their own recipe of a Rosé inspired beer. There are now Rosé lagers, ales, kettle sours, Brut IPAs, IPAs, and so many more. Regardless of which Rosé style you choose to Rosé all day with, it’ll surely be a good time.
