New Orleans-Based Urban South Brewery Expands to Houston

Houston’s beer scene continues to grow with the addition of award-winning Urban South Brewery’s first expansion outside of New Orleans. A satellite brewery, Urban South – HTX will focus on creative experimental beers in Houston’s Sawyer Yards District, including the hazy IPAs they are well-known for.

An Inaugural to Remember
It’s been almost two weeks since the Side Project Invitational, and attendees’ heads are still spinning over the experience. Subtitled as “A Festival of Barrel-Aged Stouts & Barleywines,” it was immediately advertised as not for the faint of heart. Strategically placed on Super Bowl Sunday, February 2nd, as the kickoff to Side Project’s annual Stout Week, it brought people from all over the United States to Maplewood, Missouri to see what all the hype was about.

Brewbies Oceanside 2020 | Event Recap

February 8 marked the much anticipated Brewbies Festival at Bagby Beer in Oceanside, CA. For 11 years, the Brewbies organization has worked to bring breweries and the public together in support of breast cancer awareness. Working with the Keep a Breast Foundation, the festival has donated more than $540,000 to breast cancer research to date.

San Francisco Beer Week 2020 | Opening Night Gala Recap

San Francisco Beer Week is underway and us on the Pacific Regional team are finally rested up from the Opening Night Gala, ready to attend other upcoming events during the week, and are ready to share all the delicious beers and fun times we had. The Opening Night Gala was thrown by the Bay Area Brewers Guild and, boy, did they bring it this year! Here are some of the stand outs from the night.
2020 SAVOR Tickets Go On Sale February 18th

It’s that time of year again. The Brewers Association’s 13th annual craft beer and food pairing event, Savor, will be making its return to Washington, D.C. on May 5th. Tickets for this don’t miss event go on sale February 18th for Brewers Association and American Homebrewers Association members, and February 19th for all non-members. Three different ticket tiers will be available for purchase: general admissions ($139), premium ($179) and VIP ($249). Be sure to mark the date down in your calendars to get your tickets!

We here on the Pacific Team are hella stoked on San Francisco Beer Week 2020 and enjoyed both the San Francisco and Berkeley media previews. Now that SFBW is knocking on our door, what better way to get pumped then finding some killer events to attend?! The first night, February 7th, is a no brainer – SFBW Opening Night Gala on Pier 35, put on by the Bay Area Brewers Guild. Our Team has combed through the massive amount of events being put on over the 10 day craft beer week, and honestly still looking cause wow there is a lot happening, and found some can’t miss events for ya’ll!

Of all of the beer events that are out there today, only a handful are as important and meaningful and well as educational as Brewbies. Started just about 11 years ago by Melanie (Mel) Pierce, it was the idea to help the community become more educated about breast cancer and checking for early signs while you get to support research foundations fight against the big C. (while of course drinking some rad brews!)

After yet another successful event last year, Good Beer Hunting’s Uppers and Downers returns to Thalia Hall on February 23 with two sessions bringing together some of the most iconic coffee roasters, breweries, and distilleries under one roof.

San Francisco Beer Week, February 7th through the 16th, spans much larger than the name might suggest. So when the Bay Area Brewers Guild threw media events this year, they decided to split them into two. One that took place on January 21st, with a write up found here. The second taking place this last Tuesday, January 28th with representatives of their Coastal, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley chapters of the guild.
