SweetWater Brewing Co. | Grass Monkey
February 13, 2017 | Jose MinayaABV: 5.4%
It’s February and it may be cold, it may be wintery, but If you are like me you are already thinking about summer. You are yearning for the renewal of sunny days, baseball games and the general atmosphere that comes with a new fresh spring. SweetWater Brewing Company is in the same mindset and their new seasonal beer, Grass Monkey, is here to usher you right into the spring. If you think this is just a simple light delicate spring beer, you don’t know SweetWater. Grass Monkey is light, but its complexity comes from citrusy hops and, in true SweetWater flair, an addition of lemongrass.

What We’re Drinking | February 10, 2017
February 10, 2017 | Danele BovaThis week was full of ups and downs. Super Bowl 51 saw a huge upset by the Patriots who achieved a comeback over the Falcons (some celebrated, many did not.) Lady Gaga put on a kickass halftime show, but left her political side at home (or did she?) Beyonce broke the internet with her pregnancy announcement (the queen is having twins!) And the American public continues to flail about as the political atmosphere remains heavy and foreboding.

Spoonwood Brewing Company | 2 Minutes To Midnight
February 10, 2017 | Gregory AceroABV: 10.3% | IBU: 61
This past weekend my wife and I were able to make a trip to meet a few friends at Spoonwood Brewing Company. I absolutely love this brewery because of the great atmosphere for everyone, especially families with children, the entertainment, the food and, of course, the beer! I arrived and quickly grabbed their draft list and instantly my eyes picked out the words “Imperial Stout”—along side those glorious words was 2 Minutes To Midnight. Along with being a huge IPA fan, I am also big on imperial stouts and Spoonwood’s Imperial Stout was an absolute hit that night!
Brewery Showcase | Narrow Gauge Brewing
February 9, 2017 | Jordan PalmerForget the Hollywood hoopla, this is brewing award season! In a recent Porchdrinking.com piece, it was noted that Narrow Gauge Brewing Company won the RateBeer award for Missouri’s Best New Brewery. With so many new breweries coming to life in Missouri, one couldn’t help but wonder what it was about Narrow Gauge that electrified the local beer loving public. We recently got the chance to interview brewer Jeff Hardesty who shed light on Missouri’s new hot brewery.
10 Dessert Beers You Should Be Drinking After Each Meal
February 9, 2017 | Lora KormosAs a kid, you were always told, “No dessert until you finish your dinner.” If you were like me, you’d push around your broccoli and then wait for the dog to walk by, or hide the leafy greens under a rug as you eyed the chocolate cake sitting on the table.
But, now you are an adult. You get to decide if you want to finish your plate of steamed vegetables. And even better, you can have cookies and ice cream for breakfast if you choose. Even better, if you want to have beer for dessert, you could totally do that too!

SB 85 Passes and the Future of Georgia Beer
February 8, 2017 | Jose Minaya 2Georgia brewers and imbibers are celebrating a long-awaited victory in legislative progression! The last state in America to prohibit its brewers from selling their own products on-premise is now opening the door for just that. SB 85 Malt Beverages; provide for limited sale at retail by manufacturers, a bill jointly presented by the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild and Georgia Beer Wholesalers Association to the Georgia General Assembly, proposed that the state allow breweries to sell beer for on-site and off-site consumption, to be limited to 3,000 bbls per year per brewery. That bill passed quickly, and with ease, this past week and now awaits its implementation this summer and any interpretations by the Georgia Department of Revenue. To fully appreciate this, let’s take a step back and recap how all this developed.

Brewery Showcase | Sketchbook Brewing
February 7, 2017 | Mathew PowersIf a picture is worth 1,000 words, Sketchbook Brewing is worth 1,000 stories.
For this writer, whose job it is to frequent breweries and watering holes several times a week, it is sometimes difficult to be impressed. However, Sketchbook Brewing, located in Chicago-suburban Evanston, Illinois, impressed mightily – great beer, admirable business philosophy, and a wonderful, cozy taproom.

Epic Brewing Company | Big Bad Baptista

Last year flew by, picking off celebrities along the way. Each week we were viciously stripped of a little bliss replaced with dread, fearing who could be next. Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister passed away at the end of 2015, opening the floodgates to a particularly tough 2016. Consequently, if he could go, anyone could. Because of this vulnerability, it drove us to stop and think about the past. We wish there were better reasons to revisit the legends of our youth. When they leave us, we are forced to fire up Netflix or Spotify and immerse ourselves in their undeniable genius.
