How does a brewery in today’s craft beer market keep a specific beer around and keep it relevant? One way to do that would be to have a rotational series of a specific beer that feature different hops and ingredients each time it’s brewed and released. Although that’s a very good start, that’s not all that goes into keeping a beer alive. Obviously, each version would have to be of superior quality and taste as well. We’re going to take a closer look at the latest offering from Wild Leap Brew Co out of Lagrange, GA and their Alpha Abstraction rotational series of Double IPAs.
Colorado’s Best Non-Adjunct Barrel-Aged Stout Blind Tasting Presented by On Tap Credit Union

It may seem odd to conduct a Barrel-Aged Stout blind tasting in the middle of April, but let’s be real, it’s always Stout season. The truth is that we fully intended for this to take place in December, but as it often goes, life got in the way and we were forced to postpone. Nevertheless, we still put the call out to all Colorado breweries to submit their best non-adjunct Barrel-Aged Stouts to be judged by our panel of experts, and we were able to field 32 entries for our second installment of the Colorado Blind Tasting series. Resolute Brewing Selling Gift Boxes for Arapahoe County Early Childhood Council

Today, Resolute Brewing is wrapping up a month-long fundraiser for the Arapahoe County Early Childhood Council‘s (ACECC) “Parents as Teachers” program by selling specialized gift boxes. Importantly, this program provides resources for parents to help get their kids ready for school as research has shown that greater parent involvement is a critical link in the child’s development.
Good People Brewing | Hazy Snake IPA

For their first new beer release in five years, the old-school folks at Good People are jumping onto a new-school beer trend with Hazy Snake IPA.
Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Good People Brewing Co. prides themselves on brewing “the #1-selling IPA in Alabama for the last 10 years,” known simply as Good People IPA. Aside from this flagship, Good People distributes several other core brands throughout Alabama and Middle Tennessee, including their Snake Handler Double IPA, Muchacho Mexican-style Lager, Good People Pale Ale, and now, Hazy Snake IPA.

Yet there he was several years later, receiving a delivery of New York State grown barley that had been sailed down the Hudson River to his brewery in Brooklyn. This upcoming weekend, Denver’s own Hops & Pie will host two terrific tap takeovers with Drekker Brewing Company on Friday, April 22, and then WeldWerks Brewing Company on Sunday, April 24. Excitingly, at least 16 different and hard-to-find beers will be available.

As one of Milwaukee, WI’s newest and most innovative breweries, Amorphic Beer resides in an old brick industrial building in the Riverwest community. The building has a long history of housing creative scientific endeavors, including being the birthplace of the world’s first handheld electric drill, post-WWI. The Hole Shooter was eventually absorbed into Milwaukee Tools’ product offering.
Wah Gwaan Brewing | Blacker the Cherry

Working together and collaborating is a core tenet of the craft beer industry, and Wah Gwaan Brewing Blacker the Cherry is a great example of what can happen when like minds devise a new beer recipe. Brewed in honor of Black History Month, Blacker the Cherry is a Black IPA brewed with cherries and vanilla created by Wah Gwaan, The Pint Exchange and Crafty Brothas.

The Sacramento Area Brewers Guild, which represents the Counties of Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado has plans to quench your thirst and satisfy your food cravings. Breweries, taprooms, restaurants and retail craft beer stores are all joining in the celebration. There will be over 100 regional events during beer week.

What happens when you take some of the best in-and-out of state lager makers and bring them all to one town green in Duluth? A really damn good time enjoying Little Beer.
Over the weekend, Duluth’s Good Word & Public House hosted their second annual “Little Beer” fest, which saw 60+ breweries bring their best low ABV (mostly ~5% and lower) beers to the tables for craft drinkers to enjoy all day long. Java Logic from Lo Rez Brewing in Chicago, Illinois achieved something special. They crafted a memorable beer that stands out in a sea of other options. There is no shortage of examples of breweries teaming up with coffee roasters to make beer but Java Logic really hit the mark. It’s the perfect combination of unique and classic.

It has been just over two years since the inaugural Side Project Invitational came and went, setting a new standard for craft beer festivals. Not long after its debut on February 2, 2020, the entire world was shaken by the COVID-19 pandemic, the effects of which are continuing to bare their teeth even into the early parts of 2022. It hasn’t all been bad, though. On January 31, Side Project announced the second Invitational, which was to include not only Barrel-Aged Stouts & Barleywines, but instead all varieties of oak-aged beer. This, to the joy of many, was set to include the wild, the funky and the sour.
