Event Preview | Georgia Craft Brewers Festival

The Georgia Craft Brewers Guild invites you out to the first ever Georgia Craft Brewers Festival happening April 1-2. April 1 will be a VIP preview event from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This VIP experience will allow attendees to taste 20+ special collaboration beers from brewery participants, as well as hear from brewers about the beers, their process, ingredients and inspiration. A panel of 15 experienced Beer Judge Certification Program-certified judges will award gold, silver and bronze to the top three winners of the collaboration contest.

Welcome to New Orleans, one of the most culturally rich and unique cities in America and the world. While you’re most likely here to take in the Men’s College Basketball Final Four, the city offers much more than the ideal location to host large sporting events. New Orleans has a rich tradition of alcohol innovation as the home of the Sazerac and Hurricane drinks, but the emphasis has historically been on cocktails as opposed to beer.
The beer scene has undoubtedly improved in the last decade with the arrival of many breweries and expanding interest in craft beer, and today there are a plethora of options for the beer nerd to satiate their needs in the Big Easy. With my knowledge having lived in the city 2017-2021 and current resident Katie de la Rosa’s expertise, we have assembled a guide of the best places to drink beer in New Orleans along with some extra tips on food and entertainment.

Proper Brewing Co. | Whispers of the Primordial Sea Smoked Helles with Pineapple

Perhaps nothing makes brewers beam more than when one of their beer babies—and a lager at that—becomes a commercial success. For Jeff Bunk, director of operations for Proper Brewing Co., that’s the story of Whispers of the Primordial Sea.
He’d had his recipe for the smoked Helles with pineapple tucked away since his days working at a cidery in Oregon. Then, in late 2020, Proper put the beer on draft as a one-off. And in mid-2021 Whispers of the Primordial Sea hit the Utah market in 16-ounce cans. It became an instant hit.

Just over two years ago, on March 12, members of the Colorado Brewers Guild gathered to make the difficult decision to cancel one of their most lucrative fundraising events of the year at the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic. Over the course of the previous seven years, Collaboration Fest, had grown to become one of the country’s most inventive festivals by featuring beers produced exclusively for the event by collaborating breweries. In hindsight, the decision to cancel the festival in 2020 was the right call, serving as the first of a flood of cancellations and postponements that have spanned the past 24 months.

Join us as we road trip across the United States in what is to be a follow up article to the Craft Beer Across America article. In that article we explored a craft beer from every state (excluding districts and territories) to showcase some of the unknown, or lesser-known crafter beers that the U.S. craft beer scene has to offer. While that article focused mainly on the beers, this article focuses on specific breweries from a region we think would be fun to visit. We’re going to sprinkle in a couple of bigger craft breweries in each six-brewery regional section just to help spread the word for some of the not-so-big breweries in the mix.
This is by no means a “best of” brewery list. We just wanted to highlight some breweries that brew excellent beer and have great environments and to possibly fine out more about what they do other than brew beer. West Sixth Brewing Surpasses $1 Million in Giving Ahead of 10 Year Anniversary

Lexington, Kentucky’s West Sixth Brewing turns 10 this month. Not only have they managed to thrive within a market that has seen significant increases in competition over the past ten years, but they have done so while donating six percent of all proceeds to local nonprofits and charities. In an event held on March 23, they announced that they had vastly surpassed their funding goal.

Craft Women Connect was founded by Jen Price (@AtlBeerBoutique), Michelle Turner (@ExcitedtoFeast), Chris Hughes (@TheeCraftbeerconnoisseur), and Britne Dionne, and Caitlin Bradfield (@beersagogo) back in January 2019 as a response to the lack of spaces for and visibility of women of color in the Atlanta beer scene.
Odell Brewing Co. Five Points Brewhouse | Meanderin’ Orange IPA

It is not groundbreaking to say that Odell Brewing Company produces a wide variety of solid beers. That same Fort Collins tradition extended into the Five Points neighborhood in Denver in 2018. The 10-barrel brewhouse spans two floors, with 16 taps providing patrons with exclusive beers from Five Points and Odell standards from its Fort Collins brewery. While there are seven IPAs on tap in the Five Points brewhouse, its Meanderin’ Orange IPA is an outlier we recommend you try.

Over 175 Breweries Participating in April 6 Colorado Pint Glass Day
