Naples Beach Brewery | Latitude Adjustment IPA
April 20, 2017 | Devin CasterABV: 7.2% | IBU: 70
With the summer heat quickly approaching, complaints about the upper end of the temperature spectrum will quickly arise. Of course, for a place like Southwest Florida, beach weather never truly goes into hibernation. Thus, certain styles are suitable year-round in the Sunshine State including a smooth IPA such as Naples Beach Brewery Latitude Adjustment IPA.

Fremont Brewing | Summer Ale
April 19, 2017 | Hannah CarlsonThough the celebration of spring isn’t exclusive to one certain place or city, the city of Seattle, I can assure you, is especially elated. The welcoming of spring is more than a changing of the seasons — it’s a changing of lifestyle. It means leaving umbrellas at home, closeting the rain boots, planning outdoor happy hours, and spending countless hours on WTA in search of the perfect hike. And as all of this is underway, there’s nothing that I want more in-hand than the Summer Ale from Fremont Brewing. Read More

What to Drink at a Cincinnati Reds Game
April 18, 2017 | Craft Beer Joe 2Featured image courtesy of Pixabay
Cincinnati is known for its rich history with baseball and beer. In fact, Cincinnati was the first city to have a professional baseball team in 1869. And with a large German population, the city also had over 30 breweries during those early baseball years. This prompted the then Red Stockings to serve beer at baseball games, which was quite controversial at the time. So it’s easy to see that beer and Red’s baseball have been a critical part of Cincinnati’s history from the very beginning.
It is no different today; the Queen City is still in love with its baseball team and the city’s love for beer is evident by the nearly 40 breweries that now call Cincinnati home. That love for craft beer and baseball is displayed at Great American Ball Park (GABP) where there is an impressive beer list. For me, I immediately look toward the local craft beer on the list and two stand out: Rhinegeist‘s Hustle and MadTree Brewing’s Rounding Third. Not only are these tasty brews but they are also baseball themed.

The 420 pack consists of Declaration’s signature beer series including 1,872 fluid ounces of Impure Penelope Armstrong American IPA and Hardtack Copper Ale, and 1,296 fluid ounces of Purloined Pearl Pale Ale. Second Self Beer Company | Manic Pixie Dream Beer #1
April 18, 2017 | John BaumABV: 13.9% | IBU: 64
Atlanta’s Second Self Beer Company sent me two cans of Manic Pixie Dream Beer #1. At first, I didn’t want to try them. Same beer, slightly different artwork on each can, and enough of a singular nature to this that I felt like I should keep it in mint condition. After all, it could be worth something in the future. But then again, they aren’t Beanie Babies. They’re cans of beer. So in I went.

Spring time is upon us which means it’s time to bring your patio furniture out from hibernation, crack open a tasty brew, and relish in warmer weather and longer days ahead. Spring in Fort Collins, Colorado is especially delightful; the flowers are in bloom, flops are out, and the people smile even brighter as they make their way around. Nestled in the heart of Old Town is Mainline Ale House, a restaurant serving up craft brews, cocktails and gourmet food. And this past Friday, the restaurant celebrated the change of seasons by serving up the ultimate spring-inspired beer and wine pairing, Hops + Vine Spring Beer and Wine Dinner.

Most breweries I’ve visited keep some sort of “Idea List” hanging around for different beer ideas and flavor combinations. Sometimes these lists are left exclusively to the employees of the brewery and sometimes they welcome ideas from their customers. In this particular instance, Chris Hill, the founder of Odyssey Beerwerks spent some vacation time in the British Virgin Islands drinking almost exclusively passion fruit – which leads us to our profile of a particular selection on their idea list.

Terrapin Beer Co. | Cumulus Lupulus Imperial IPA
April 12, 2017 | Dan BortzABV: 8.1% | IBU: 101
Sometimes, after working night shift, a beer really hits the spot. Society might not approve of the fact that I’m drinking beer at 7:30 in the morning, but I really don’t care what they think. This morning, my wind-down beverage was a Cumulus Lupulus Imperial IPA from Terrapin Beer Company. I almost forgot that I had put it in the fridge a few days ago, but that beautiful blue can and its floating clouds caught my eye.
