2021 WeldWerks Invitational to be Postponed Until 2022

August 25, 2021 |

Hey, remember a couple of months ago when I confidently, naively announced that the WeldWerks Invitational was definitely happening this October? Well, much like that new Jeopardy host, I wish I could scrub the internet of my past mistakes. But alas, they live on, and I’m sad to tell you that due to rapidly rising COVID cases, the WeldWerks Invitational 2021 has been postponed until 2022.

Firestone Walker Double Barrel Ale Turns 25

August 23, 2021 |

Not many beers brewed in the US have an origin story that equals Firestone Walker’s Double Barrel Ale, aka DBA. August 20, 2021 |

I wish every time I sat down to write one of these, the world wasn’t literally and figuratively on fire. But here we are. The smoke from the fires in the Northwest are finally leaving Colorado, taking Denver off of the “world’s most polluted cities” list finally. And best of all, football season is back.

Sure it’s predicted to be a harsh, cold winter. Sure, the delta variant is about to wreck everyone’s plans for fall. Tropical storms, tornados, fires, earthquakes — you name it, earth’s got it. So if you need an excuse to drink a beer before noon on a Friday, you’re not really paying attention. Whatever time it is where you are, crack open a beer with us and see what the PorchDrinking team’s been sipping on to make it through the end of summer.

Southern Grist Brewing Co. | Strange Horizons NEIPA

August 20, 2021 |

Collaborations between bands and breweries are nothing new. Run the Jewels, for example, seem to agree to beer collabs as often as they agree to play a festival. From wacky creations that never should’ve left the brains of collaborators to killer creations that you wish would never run out, the spectrum of these projects are vast. Regardless, it’s always amusing to see what folks come up with.  Read More

Firestone Walker Crafted Thru Hops with Propagator Series

August 19, 2021 |

As a person who loves choices in food and drink, I am always elated when I see breweries come out with mixed packs. Two of my favorite things in this world are tapas restaurants and create your own six packs at beer bars. Therefore, when Firestone Walker came out with another Crafted Thru Hops mixed pack featuring the Propagator Series with Strata Hops, I had to get my hands on it.

Peak View Brewing | Tiramisu Stout

August 18, 2021 |

Peak View Brewing in Greenwood Village, Colorado, was founded just two years ago, but the ideas of this brewery have a longer history. The founders, Sean Peters and Justen Coulfal, not only share a history of military service, but also a love of craft beer. Their shared dream of opening a brewery has been realized with a large variety of beers on tap to offer to their customers. They have also collaborated with other local businesses to expand their offerings. Outer Range Brewing Co. | Pop Top NEIPA

August 16, 2021 |

Since 2016, Outer Range Brewing has been a consistent and popular spot for thirsty travelers passing through Frisco, Colorado looking for Belgian and IPA options. As an unashamed-to-admit hazy IPA fanboy (yes, we even have groups!), Outer Range was always on my radar when perusing the massive craft beer selections, especially in Denver. While I appreciate a brewery that can knock out a “one-hit wonder” beer, my admiration goes to breweries that make each beer a winner; that is rare, even in the secluded world of hazy IPAs. Outer Range Pop Top is one of those beers, an exemplary tropical hazy IPA with the uniquely engineered Cryo Pop Original Blend, which maximizes hop aromatics.
